What job skills do you have and what would you like to do?
Ain't nothin' like the wind in your hair.
Only as a grunt boozer!! (slight dig at Army)
RAAF and Navy would make him work a bit too much :P humble apologies to all the bullet stoppers out there 😉
Anyways he would have to be pretty highly skilled and make a high pay grade or make it to SGT before he got that much regardless.
'Ah, whatever................'
...and as for working only Monday to Friday, or from home.....maybe years ago but not these days.....Defence has all changed....
Maybe a politician?

Join the Navy, last year I earned 107k with an Iraq trip under my belt at sea you would clear around 60-70k.
I've been with the Navy nearly 11 years now and haven't thought twice since.

There might be a few out there but try web design. Can be done at home with the right HW - just about teaching yourself and setting things up right - and getting some clients of course.

You should try IT. You can earn a lot more than 40k *and* work five days a week if you score the right job. I haven't worked weekends for a while now.
Andrew

What about this.
You love surfing
I would think you can appreciate a nice board, and you know what makes a good board and what doesent.
How about making very nice custom boards, wood veneer etc, you could make 4 or 5 in a week once youve got your head around it.
$800 each is a fair price, I know someone who does it now and has for 30 years now. you do the math.
I can show you how if you like, I dont know much about surfing but I know whats involved in making a surfboard.
The beauty of this is you can start while you still have your current job and once you have it running at areasonable pace, you can move onto that permanently.
Living in Byron bay makes for the perfect location to market the whole thing.
And once youre underway you can work around the times you want to surf rather than the other way around.
What do you think?
62 Ragtop Herbie with a little extra oomph.
You'll find defence members, work bloody hard when the need arises, but play even harder.
Talk to Buzzbug if you want to know about the life of a mago (army).lol.
I know Lee dosen't do much.lol.
The note above from Barls is noted, mate we need to meet next time I visit Sydney...find me a dark alley......
what qualifications do you need for IT?
Im a bit over byron at the moment...so would move for the right job...
Tony the surfboard idea is a good one except there are 500 other people in byron making surfboards, and like VWs people want nice ones but dont want to pay anything for them...
Cmon Tim tell us about your job...
hey, herbie, if he is a teacher (I think, from memory) then how bout teaching surfing,, and making boards....? and delivering homebrew beer and organic vegies..........and on sundays supliment income by working a few hours in a toll booth and at night...a strippergram.... hey I should be a life coach....bwaahahaaaa... you'll clock up ur 40K in no time bruce 😀
I dont want to live in God forsaken brisbane, too many feral weirdos up there, and too bloody hot...as for the hot girls in brisbane, i only know of a few :P:thumb
Stripper, id need to shape up a bit...
What about a bus driver, had plenty of experience...or courier??? Do they work hard?
:bounce hey busdriver...you already have the bus...... just stick a couple of benches on the back... there are 4 I know of at the main roundabout in byron.... you could have an open air tacky tourist run for all the 50million tourists who seem to think byron is a good place to go....... btw,,, last weekend was the first time I had been to byron in 9yrs........... wtf... wasnt that busy last time I was there..... :puke lol
No, its full on, im over it...
Id love to be a stay at home dad, how hard can that be? Get up for the early, be back at 7, kids up dressed and breaky, lunches packed, into the split for an adventure ride to school, 9am, go for another surf, come home do some cleaning and washing, catch the tail end of bert, some lunch, an arvo nap, quick shopping or chores, pay the bills etc, pick the kids up and head to the beach for an arvo dip or surf...home to cook the dinner, bath and homework, kids to bed, relax with the wife in one hand and a red in the other...sounds way to easy
How about a small tour bus driver....any companies working out of your area?
There are a few companies that do Sydney to Byron, and reverse....they would be getting into their busy season now n looking for tour guides/drivers
They are lots of fun...so not all work...and pleny of nice girls in kini's
Here are the two main ones...but there are others
http://www.wavessurfschool.com.au/five_day.html
http://www.surfadventures.com.au/surftours.htm
There must be lot's of bus driver/tour guide work up your way....and they love someone with local knowledge...overseas visitors always have lots of questions for you...it's interesting but relaxed
