i won't mention the company involved as i am very happy with all the other work they did for me...... i just have one problem, which has had my car break down on me twice now.
the first time it took me a long time to figure out the problem to be a blockage in the fuel tank, i emptied, removed, and cleaned out the tank, then re-fitted it and all was fine.
yesterday my car died on me again, exactly the same symptoms as first time round......
so today i pulled the pipe of the bottom of my fuel tank and nothing came out (tank is almost full)
so.... i got to thinking..... last time when i cleaned the tank out a small blob of a silicone like substance dropped out of it.
i remembered that this company had replaced my fuel sender for me, so i decided to whip it out and have a look.
the picture says it all:
i shall be calling this company tomorrow to question their methods of sealing a fuel tank sender....

p.s. i can't get the smell of petrol out of my skin, and i'm going out tonight.....lol
(i've edited the title, read further down and you'll understand why)

Some women get really turned on by the smell of petrol on a man !
Apparently
And their labour rate is probably around $100.00 an hour, and the apprentice on $5.00 an hour did this job by the look of it.
Nasty.

Could have been a lot worse if it had gotten into the fuel line too I imagine.

having spoken to the shop in question, it turns out that they hadn't replaced my sender, kind of a long story but basically just a simple mix up....
i'm glad i didn't name names as this would have caused un-deserved trouble!
so....
it looks like it will remain a mystery as to how the silicone got in there..... now i've just got to clean it all out!!!
kai
hmm sounds like they are covering their asses :blah

I would be checking the job card you got with your repairs and see if you have been charged for fuel sender removal and replacment.

i've asked one of the moderators to lock this thread.
i feel that if it continues it may cause bad publicity for a company who have done nothing to deserve it.
