Just had a nasty accident this morning in my wife car (not vw, a benz), makes me think that even 4 disc brakes won't stop the car. I know it depends on the situation but I was just wondering it might be better to upgrade my super beetle brake to "a better one". Any suggestion and cost involved?
Cheers
Nino

What Dave said and check your shockers.

Without ABS, upgrading your brakes is generally limited to improving their ability to handle heat and therefore reduce brake fade, something which (probably) wouldn't have helped in this situation. Just installing bigger brakes will cause them to be more prone to lock up, which is obviously counterproductive. If you really want to upgrade the brakes, go to an automotive engineer and get their advice.

It's not the brakes that is the problem - it's your reflexes and or/'safety cushion' that you have around you....

But yes, good quality tyres are the first 'brake' upgrade you can do, then better pads, then bigger brakes
