Gibbo, just had ours car shipped from sydney to tweed $450 door to door, we got pretty much the same price from most carriers, althought it is cheaper to get it shipped from the transporting companys depot to depot, we took the easy option.
Send it by Rail if you can.
It cost me $275 each way from bris to newcastle and newcastle to Bris.
It was going to cost $195 each way if i sent it by rail
Might get away with that sort of stuf as its not exactly what most folk would nick... unless they were VWers and then you would hope they didn'tanyways. I got told that the car should be empty for transport, but if you say that they are part of the car (replacement parts etc) then I reckon you could have them left in the car.
I paid $600 to have the Dualcab picked up in Melbourne last month (from a residential address) and dropped to their depot at Capalaba in Bris where I picked it up, this was the cheapest quote, though if you are getting only a beetle it will probably be cheaper. The other quotes that I got were around the $800 mark. It is more expensive if the vehicle is not a runner. I can find the firms details if you are interested. Think they were called Affordable Car Carriers from memory.
Try this company.
if the car is a non goer this company specialises in non running cars.
They offer discount door to door service.
the companies name is
SPEEDY
they are in Brisbane and the number is
0733902822
or Fastway vehicle transport
again out of brisbane
0732453912
Haha, I live in Oakleigh. Hope you get it sorted. Too bad I'm busy, I could drive it up for the cost of fuel! That'd be fun. Hmmm, maybe there's a business idea there. Life becomes one long road trip.🙂
Yeah I would do that myself, I work for Virgin Blue so I could get a cheap flight down there, but the car isnt registered, and porb needs a tune up as its been off the road for a while.
so do speedy transport non going cars as well for that price or would that be more. looking at a Baja down in Melb that has wheels but no motor. have to see if it is worthwhile trying to get it up here.
when are you looking at getting your car brought up here. I am thinking of seeing how much it is to fly down hiring a truck and then driving back to brissy. this would be late november/december but may be able to go halves in the cost
it is just an idea at the moment.
just a thought for you 'trippers'..
go with the best quote as; if you do the truck you gotta get extra insurance for the load and find your way and beat deadlines and know when & where to get cheap fuel, food and drink and for such a long trip add in the accom /or phonecalls to home and the girls and the boss if somthin goes wrong ...... adds up hey .ya aint even cosidered a flat tyre ( on a truck) phew.... or a speeding piccie ???
