hey guys
after blowing a head in my bus, and weighing up the options of recoing mine - heads ($1800) and buying a second hand engine ($2000), ive decided to bight the bullet and buy a full reco engine. ive rang almost every place in melbourne and the standard price for a 2L is around $3500. this seems like the best option as im always driving dubs so i can change the engine over to any ride.....and its probably the most cost efficant in the long run.
however are there better reco engines than others?? they come with a 3 year warranty, but has anyone had bad experiences with certain places etc etc.....also do they make an unleaded reco engine???
any advice would be appreciated
cheers

Yeah, uh, well, I've had a bad experience at a place in ......., in the south east. They put a new fuel pump in, cost me $200, and the fuel lines now interfere with some tinware, next, they, ah, what's the point? I wasn't impressed. But, I don't know whether or not they do reco engines. And further, perhaps I was just unlucky. I never went back, so a statistical sample of 1 is not really significant right. They showed me a letter, while I was there, written to them by a supposed customer, praising their service. Is that normal?
World. Moorabbin. Check the phone book. (Is that not allowed like that? Sorry, moderator, if it isn't).
Starting January we will be bringing in totally rebuilt Vege and Remtec engines. Built to Volkswagens own high standards. All are "hot" bench tested before shipment and timing set.
Cheers
I have a question for the people at Pacific Classic VW. I do not knock you for bring products into the country that no one here can produce ie sheet metal, wheels, steering wheels etc, etc, after all this is as you said once before, a great way of giving the VW nutter a chance of putting together a great ride .
I do however think that you should also try to promote the Aussy market where possible and especially in this particular thread as we have some of the best engine builders here in Australia, I dont see the the need to send all our dollars out of the country.

Please dont take this as a dig at your company just a ,Fellow proud VWs view.
Pay the extra money and get Brand new heads, Reco heads just dont last in kombi's. A properly rebuilt engine with new heads, pistons and barrels etc should be around $5000+.
