What's "Cal look rubbers"?? Read about em but can't figure out the difference.

And one step further - what's the "cal look" generally?

"cal look" rubbers are rubbers without the aluminium trim in them.

the cal look in general usually refers to a dechromed car with the front end slammed (among other bits and pieces). check out www.cal-look.com for more info. 🙂

Oh ok - thanks for that.

Actually leads me to another question....my rear window has some aluminium which has tarnished badly (really dark brown) - is this alum. part of the rubber (ie all one piece??)

Can this be cleaned up or need replacing?? What is this part/piece called?

so can it be polished/cleaned/painted (whatever) to get it looking like new again or does it have to be replaced?? Tried using a chrome polish but didn't make any diff....(I think all the chrome/alum (whatevr it is) has worn off.

To my knowledge the trim are actually anodised.

What you might be able to do is get some 600 sand paper and wet rub it with some soapy water...work your way up the paper grade 600-1500-2000, then polish with some soft metal polish.

Always try a small section first though...

Thanks for that - and if that doesn't work - replace??

If replacing are Cal-look rubbers the way to go? Is this "the go". Car is currently all original so should it be kept/replaced that way - or cal rubbers a good/valuable upgrade??

New to all the bits and pieces options....only ever driven em and driven em - never been interested in upgrades and options but am now (since discovering this bloody forum!!):cussing😀

are the rest of you window trims silver or the same as the back window? my 1300 has black on the back as well, must be a 1300 thing. a caustic soda and water mix will remove the anodizing but youd have to remove the trim to do this.if your going to go the gravel guards etc i'd leave the chrome window trims on:blah
