It sounds like You have connected up the steering box while it wasn't at the center of its movement... ie.. too far left or right, .. - this is going to be difficult and a pain in the neck... You will have to undo the tie rod ends off the steering box arm... now count how many turns to the right & left with the steering wheel.. to find the center of movement...
when you have found the center... when You connect up the tie rod ends both front wheels should be straight ahead...
If they are not You need to adjust both of them... this is a pain... it might be easier to go to a front wheel alignment shop and have it done correctly....
After You have finished aligning the front wheels etc... You will probably need to take the steering wheel OFF and put it back on with the front wheels straight ahead...
Finished job... adjusting the tie rod ends is a terrible job IMHO... I hated doing that... it may be easier to take the fuel tank out.. to adjust the tie rod ends etc....

This was supposed to be the answer to the "Verybigtallman"s question on His steering problem...

Unless You adjust tie rod ends for a living..... You wouldn't want to touch them.... when You do one side You have to do the other etc... its a terrible job... I only had to adjust mine [one side] about an inch and it took hours to do...
as when You touch one side the other side moves too...
plus You have to remember which way to turn the tie rods...
or You get mixed up.... and start again...
cheers
