For those of you that don't know i'm an Auto Glazier by trade , 15 years experience. I'm starting my own business very soon. Although i will supply and fit glass alot of my work is removing and refitting for panel work etc to be done. My radius of work will basically be East side Sydney, out to west abit and down south abit. May stray further if your female , single and late 20's LOL!

Not everyone is happy with taking glass in and out but if your painting a car i'm afraid those windows have got to come out! If you dont feel comfortable doing this well help is here!

For any aircooled AVD member that is doing a resto or just wants some new glass rubbers fitted i'll do a special rate of $120 . Thats to fit front and rear screens and rear quarters. Squarebacks and combi's a little more. Standard remove and refit price for panelshops is $75 per glass so a big saving thanks to AVD. Min $70 to get me there!

Please u2u me , mail me at dannyslatter@hotmail.com or call 0404052121.

As i'm only just getting this started and still work fulltime at first alot of my work will get done on w'ends and in the evenings so please take this into account. Saying that i think that will be a help to alot of people so we'll see what happens.

Lastly my company needs a name. I want it vw related some how but still say something about glass and or my name. What ideas are out there????

Lastly my Notch will be a company car LOL !!

Many thanks AVD for the quick plug

Dan😀

Danny,
You might know this, is there anyway of removing a laminated screen with out breaking it? with out cutting the rubber?
Thanks
Dave

Depends on the car but alot of the times yes you can. Most rubber glazed units can be tricky if alot of sealer or silicone was used prior to seal the glass ( not needed either , use grease!) but with abit of time and care i don't see why not.
Bonded units are a different matter as there are so many different ways of being fitted and also trims normally need replacing.

Whats the car Dave?

Dak Dak Glass - we're cheap - but we're glassy (get it - glassy):duh

(Larry gives sideways glance and says don't be so stupid, but Dan rubs his chin and says "I like it"):P:P:P

silly - but couldn't help myself - sorry...

Question Dan,

My Son is restoring a two door XB {??} Ford Coupe and the windscreen is cracked and He wants to take it out..
there are two small wires - looks like enamelled covered wire
He said that a Voltage is applied to the wires to heat up the adhesive so He can take the old windscreen out....
Is this correct?? and if so, How many volts?? 12V ??
and how high an amperage -- like a car battery or maybe 4 -5 amps... I just don't want to hook up a good 12 volt battery and burn the wire out in 1 second...
