hey all..just wondering if everyones the same...i have noticed that no matter how bad our vw's are...everyone who loves'em...buy one...make it mechanically ok....dump it with mags and drive....?
like...ofcourse there is show quality cars out there...but have u ever heard of someone say...buying a banged up mercedes...and having actually enjoyed driving it around?
thats what i love...dun matter what the look is...get in an drive...but! best part about it...so far...i havent seen anyone who doesnt compliment...like u wlk up to sum guys ford laser...and instantly see a ding on the door... you say "dude...thats awful"...to a vw owner.... original grey bug...surface rust everywhere...dings over the whole car...lowered with mags...and we all say..."oh yeh!!!!! sweet ride..."
i really do think thats cool...

Reimagined/Recycled/Upcycled Cool
With Veedubs it seems to me that people either love them or hate them. There doesn't seem to be a middle ground. My experience is I've driven loads of cars but driving a vw (aircooled only I'm talking here) is an enjoyable drive. You get in a modern car and it's boring, I think the best of the rest has been an old mini cooper S.

Think about this -if you just want a flash car you can beg,steal or borrow the money and go and buy a wrx off the shelf or any new car for that matter but with a beetle (read here any air-cooled vw) you have to look around and search out the one that appeals to you and then lavish loads of attention on it and make it yours. It then becomes a part of the family and you start to worry about it, by now you,re hooked and any thing bad said about is now taken personally. Now answer this truthfully- How many people here have actually talked to their car while driving. .....I mean I haven't I was just thinking about the rest of you!
