I think my race bike speedo is good to 200kms but I will check the paperwork.you will have to make sure you can adjust the radius or circumference setting small enough to suit your trikes wheel/tire.

go for it neil.

most seem to go to 199kmh

i have used them on my dirtbike but the shrubbery and terrain and front suspension travel tends to rip off magnet & pickup mount and break wire up front forks.

my bro uses one on his bug eye baja with sucess given on the vw mounting can be outta the way. i've got a cheepy to fit to my buggy eventuually.

the one on my bike was as trek like the baja. the pik is of the cheepy hussy from kmart for the bugeye $18.95 on special. cheep.

depends on brand as to max speed.
most cateyes will read to 199kph or mph.
I think sigma (German Brand) will also go to 199.
a basic 5 function cateye velo 5 retails for $35.
this will give you current speed, max speed, trip distance, total distance, and clock.
to mount on a moto you will need to lengthen the wires.
you need to use a decent grade fine ofc copper wire.
cordless units can have interference dramas with magneto ignition.

How would you set them, I thought that they only had a few wheel options, would they work on a 15 inch wheel.

Cheers
Dave

set them by putting in the roll out distance of 1 wheel revolution.

added infor for neil.

bro's trek goes to 199kmh and does odo, trip, av speed, max speed, timer & time. a friend got a Sigma Sport BC 600 bicycle computer($40)
shows speed(to 300kph),Trip,time,total distance, elapsed time and maximum speed

if you get a sigma, you can programme in the wheel circumference anywhere between 1mm and 9999mm.

i have found cheaper cateyes have trouble keeping pace at higher speeds, especially when low on batteries. a higher class cateye comes with a pedal revs counter seperate to the speed one which has a stick on magnet, which may work for you as i imagine the std one that attaches to the spokes wouldnt.

I use one of these on my motorcycle- a 1969 r60 bmw, go the boxers!

It works well, most of the time, bumpy corrigated backroads give if some grief.

It is a cateye enduro, stronger cable than std. about $85 6 years ago, and still worked up until I tried to reset it and I cant program it again as I have lost the destructions! some net work should see me right.

Should work a treat on the trike....

Hi

You could mount the pickup on the hub or on the cv if you have IRS.

koolkarmakombi if you cant find any instructions u2u me your email address and i will photocopy mine for you. mines a cheaper model but from about the same period, they all seem to be about the same when programming them (i scored a NOS cateye astrale about a week back for $2, and the instructions worked for that)

i had one - plug in the size of your wheel. speedo, max speed, ave speed, total distance, time. went to 99k's from memory. my bike was too scary to ride that fast though...
