Hi all as most would know the klub vw bayside straddie camping weekend has just gone and gee was it fun and a good number of vw's there were six offroaders and a few kombis, bugs, and a fastie all up 19 cars. The fun started on friday when dave and i still with full tyre psi and thinking it was low tide went out on to the beach only to find out that there wasn't much to drive on aside from really soft stuff i just made it on to a dune to let the treads down and dave just tryed the rule of right foot and missed first gear doing a u turn and needed me to get him going again but after that we found a really cool hill now know as the tower of terror this hill is the most fun i have had in years to get an idea it was atleast 200m long and about 50 degrees with almost a meter drop of right at the top dave, rob and i came down it with me being the guinea pig going down with the hand brake on and foot brake on most of the way the best part is every time we did the hill there was atleast 2 4wds down the bottom looking up with eyes wide open in amasment and when i got down the hill and got out this guy said to me your f&^k(ng mad and he was shaking his head when i got back in and gave it a good spirted atempt at getting back up the hill but i only got a 1/4 the way up but that was about 3 car lengths more than the 4wd drive got a day later very fun.
Satarday night was fun there was a kombi with a mini bar fully stocked nice set up very cool, And if somone asks you to look at the animal he caught thats aparently in the box hes holding dont unlest you are gay or a woman you may get shocked. Sunday was a bit wet but thats cool with me so of we when for a drive on some tracks which was a great way to end the weekend. And the best thing i noticed was that klub vw are just as friendly to non members as they are to members thats just great they don't who you are just come and have fun with them and be welcome i would like to thank them all i had a great time and will be back again.
as for photos id say there will be some along soon

Yep I'd have to agree with MUD BASHIN' it was a great 3 days and the rain didn't seem to dampen anyones spirit at all. I've gotta hand it to Tim and Dave for coming back to camp everytime with a grin on their face, its got the missus thinking about doing up and registering the baja so we dont miss any fun! A big thanks to mrs congeniality (moniek) for organising the trip and anyone involved in the cheaper barge prices. Thanks to tom and sue for the friday fondu and yes I too would keep away from the wildlife in toms box. Speaking of wildlife that camping ground had some interesting inhabitants after dark , at one stage I thought we must have been in a nudie resort and i felt a bit overdressed when a couple of blokes were out for a stroll wearing only sneakers. I can happily say they werent veedubbers. So I'm already gearing up for next year with bajaboys 58' and my dual cab recovery vehicle when the bajas and manxs find it too tough. See you there!
sounds like a kool time....one day I'll join you guys over there
I think the barge got the double thumbs up on the way home. I had a blast and got a lot of great ideas for my next baja. Did anyone get a photo of me Dad's fourby (stumpy the retriever) towing The Gremlin off the beach? That was cool. Can't believe I forgot the camera, Where's the photo's!?!:thumb

Have films in being developed today (we are still in the stone age - no digital), will try to get them all up tonight.
Hopefully photos of Tim and Dave and "The Hill" come out so everyone can see the fun we had.
We had a great time, in particular I had a great time as I spent most of the weekend as a passenger in Daves Baja.

Now I want one, so am hasselling Marc big time!!!!!!!!!!
Big thanks to Dave and Tim for all the fun on the tracks.
Thanks to Mrs M for all her organizational skills. (We haven't camped in years)
It was lovely to catch up with everybody.

Hugabug,
I don't have any of the pictures that Boozer wants, so go ahead and send.
I have the ones of the tracks and hill that we spent time at. Looks like my screen is dying and have had to put it on the lowest setting of resolution, so am unable to scan and put pictures up. Do you have a scanner or anyone else have one to put them on.
