Drove to wilsons prom in the bug today with some friends to celebrate end of school. And of course Heidi decided to show herself as the most unreliable vehicle!! lol probably turned them off beetles for life!
Problems were-
1) doors popping open on windy roads!
2) lead to spark plug popping off 4 times leaving poor heidi running on 3 cylinders forcing us to pull over fairly quickly to plug it back in 😀
3) windscreen wiper becoming stuck and not working during heavy rain
4) The final blow...driving along loosing power completely result was calling RACV... problem with fuel line (bent causing fuel to evaporate)
hehehe after that all we could do is laugh! Guess it will be hard to convert them into veedub owners now lol...anyone else with stories like this?

Our Kombi Bert has embarressed us on a couple of occasions at club functions where the battery was flat and we had to push start it. We had pulled up at look-out at Byron Bay and taken photos and decided to take the boys for a swim instead of continuing on the drive. Of course with an audience he wouldn't start and we had to push him. When the battery was finally on the way out we drove to the Yatala drive-in meeting first at BP and we thought the drive down there would be enough to charge it, luckily we had bought a jump starter with us and of course he wouldnt start. Got to the drive in found what we thought was the right place to park but realised we had the wrong speaker, went to move and he wouldnt start, used the jumpstarter again, but when we went to leave he started the first time. they do it at the worst times because they have warped and twisted personalities.
but that is why we love them.
cherry always seems to have a hissy fit the day before dubs by the pub. ive given her a smooth talking to, explained why it would be in her best interests to work for the coming dubs by the pub, and threatened her with meaness if she doesnt make it this next year but decides shes going to work the next day.
no im not crazy, i just love my car.
in the beginning, the universe was created.
this made alot of people very angry and is widely regarded as a bad move.

i have a few crazy tales and they where all learning curves. Each time I fixed every problem myself sat on the side of the road with me manual in hand.So if it ever happened again i got it sorted.much props to Bentley manuals and the great JOHN MUIR[r.i.p] for getting me and my ride home everytime.Im still learning.
when we lived in brissy, one afternoon wife was driving
home out of city & kombi spat it in peak hour traffic so
her & the 2 kids had to push kombi onto footpath coming
into the valley, i wasnt there but seen it on tv news
helicopter traffic report . jann (my partner)was very
embarrassed :thumb:thumb:thumb
lol guess all our dubs have twisted personalities then... yes we did get home okay thanks to wonderful guy from RACV who was also a veedubber and recognised the problem very quickly and followed us to the next town to make sure all was well 🙂
I also gave Heidi a talking to when I got home lol...

Mine are pretty good everything brakes and falles off but still makes it home like driving 200km home from the buggy bash with a sump full of mud mind you that was the last time that motor ever went but it made it. There was only one time my kombi wanted a ride home on a tow truck was when the gear stick broke off at the floor which left me in front of a row of traffic in neutral
You only need two tools
Wd40 if it don't move and it should
Duct tape if it move's and it shouldn't
Glad you got home OK canni...yes events like that are fun to look back on once they r over :thumb
Hope you all had a great time of it at the prom!!
