In a few years, this car will be considered classic. These things are really getting on in age, which means I am lumped in with REAL old stuff, and excluded by the modern boys. Even though it has water in its veins, surely its almost its time.

nice looking car Steve did u buy that from sydney ???
Cheers. It just keeps looking better.
Nope, bought in Canberra from second owner, who I met a year before the sale at one of those "if you ever want to sell" meetings. First owner brought it out from UK, and lived in Canberra also. Mine for 4 years, and has been more cherished over that time then any other stage of its life. Most recent mod is the wheels. BBS RS are the wheels to have on a Mk2, and sell for around $2K for a good set.

so how does that go ?
Looking for that special lady : PM me for coffee & cake
Do you mean performance? Try sub 8 secs to 100.... I havent tested it at WSID yet, but I would imagine I would get about mid 15's over the quarter. Engine is NA and 1.8L with factory K-Jet injection. I have pulled a 1:18.7 at Wakefield Park for all those who know the circuit.

That's a pretty good time around Wakefield for sure. She looks very sweet. What plans have you got?
Squiz....
The time was entirely the car. I was driving at 10/10ths, but a good driver could lose at least a couple of seconds. And I was on street tyres, which I destroyed.
Plans? I think I have achieved all I wanted with this car. I brought it up to this condition over a few years, and now can reap the benefits. All I want to do is take it to shows and track meets. Future mods include stiffer sway bars, and possibly aftermarket injection, but mainly for the track. Otherwise, keep it looking the way VW intended, and ride the wave into classic status in about 5-10 years. Its a keeper for sure.

Hey Steve,
Great pics of your GTI.......which in my opinion is already a classic. It will be more than few years before my R32 is considered a classic.
Cheers
Dave.
Cheers Dave. No one on Vortex has noticed yet. Something is not the same. Can you pick it?
PS. If I bought an R, it would be silver!
