I've been around Car yards trying to trade a nice 96 Golf for a AU XR8 or V8 Fairmont.

(Because you cant fit a Pram in a Golf.)

The Shifty Car Dealers all say "We cant sell Golfs so there not worth any thing to us".

It's funny how some are asking around $14,000 for Cars they cant sell, and they offer me between $7,000 and $9,000 for mine.

Mean while they say we cant possibly budge on our retail price of the Ford. "WE ARE LOOSING TO MUCH AS IT IS"

Friggen TOOLS.

I think I will just let my wife and Baby drive my XR8, the Baby needs to get familiar with V8s any way. 😉

Yeah they're all shifty, even the "nice" ones. It's amazing how the story allways swings around to their favour depending on whether you're trading in or buying.

Sell your golf privately - and then shop around. It's amazing that when you've actually got the readies in your hand, how much more work they'll do to stop you from walking out the door.

Tell me about it. The a dick head car sales person in Hastings who's got 4 beetles for sale at the moment and there all very rough and need alot of work. His prices are ranging from 4 - 7 k. I've told him a number of times he's dreaming, hence the reason these cars have been sitting there for 4+ months.

I actually found out he paid under 1500 per car and has done no work to the at all. He clames to be a vw lover, yeah right, selling at those prices, I don't think so. He's just out for a buck and dosen't care.

I feel sorry for the poor person who buys from this shady dealer.

sell privately, then think up a price you think reasonable, go in cash in hand and say this money for that car... ignore their prices, they just want to make a buck or two to survive. the sight of a customer with $15k walking out the door would hurt me...
