Hey all, I did a very dumb thing. I charged my car battery on the new kitchen worktop. With a news paper under it.
The battery has leaked and taken the shine off the top of the counter.

Anyone know a way to get this back to how it should look?

I have read that you might be able to use some kinda car polish to bring it back?

Cheers

I suppose You could cut & polish it.. but the top glossy layer has probably been eaten by the Battery ACID...

It eats everything.... loves newspaper....

I don't think anyone would have tried to renew the gloss on laminates unless they also sat a Battery on it....
Clear Paint is the only way I have found..... to put a shine on laminate where the old hot kettle used to sit...
You will have to neutralise the acid on the Laminate to stop it further eating.... plenty of water.....
Canubra wax by Mothers or Meguirs is great on cars...??
whatever You find, it won't be permanent...

Best of Luck.... and Never trust a car battery....🙂🙂

It is possibly permanently marked but try old fashioned plain toothpaste.
You can also take some scratches out of glass-windscreens- with toothpaste. It is far cheaper than jeweller's rouge.

Ah the kitchen... best place to work on stuff🙂 If ya got a missus I sure hope you can fix it before she sees!

I'd probably try and use rubbing compound and then polish, but then I'd probably make a huge mess of it anyway.

Good luck.
