Hi everyone,

When we hit 3000 members in a few day's time, there will be a clean out of "members" who joined but have never posted. This will bring us to under 2000 members. This is just to ensure that the forum stays in top shape.

If you're a lurker who doesn't post, there is no downside from this change, as there are no forums from which you'll be barred from viewing.

There is another proposal on the cards as well, which is to delete members who haven't posted in a long time (say six months or more). It's unclear if this will go ahead, but feedback is welcome.

We encourage all lurkers to start posting today! 🙂

thanks,
Andrew

6 months might be little too short. Maybe an email to non users advising if they don't respond account will be closed kinda thingy !!

despite the fact that I am on here almost every day (man, I need to get a life!) I feel that deleting users after 12 months of inactivity would be a better idea than deleting them after 6 months....just my 2 cents. 😀

Andrew,

Ive got a confession to make, ive been living a double life, ive got a userid called "pangalactic" which I used many , many moons ago but forgot the password, I then created my current id then remembered my old password.
Anyhow, now that that dark secret is out you can delete "pangalactic" if you want. I can u2u you the password if that helps? :duh

cheers

Don't do it, for people like myself with the defence force, we may go away for upto 6mths +.

Or

If there is some way for certain members to be exempt from the clear out, let me know. Otherwise I'll be one very unhappy camper, loosing my acess / post numbers.

Please be gentle.

6months sounds too short to me too. i will be travellign next year, and have no idea whether i will have internet access or not, but i would hate to have lost my account when i returned, and would hate to see the same happen to others in a similar position.

This has been done.

There are 323 members who have not logged on since September 1, 2003, and of those 245 of them have fewer than five posts.

Therefore, we have approximately 1500 active members of the 1788 remaining. Not bad.

ps. The 323 members who have posted but have not logged in for some time will not be deleted as this makes their posts go away as well, which is not something I want.
