if we ignore the fact that they are made by VW, what makes the Kombi camper so perfect? i have had a look at a lot of campers from different companies over teh last few years and it seems no other company even comes near the spaciousness and accessibility of storage that your average bay window or wedge camper offers. most jap vans you cant even fit between the cupboards that fill the back 1/2 of the van, let alone acces the storage that they provide, and i cant say that i have ever seen a Bedford or Dodge properly converted. yet VW, the oen van with an engine taking up some of teh space has managed to createa comper layout that when done well provides ample storage, seating and bedding for any occasion. how come no other can compare?

The reasons I bought a VW type 2:
Price, ease of maintenance, walk through to rear, off road ability, load carrying capacity, and multi use.
Seriously find me another 1 tonne van, that quickly converts from 9 seater bus, to van, to camper (~15 min. each way for me) with the off road capabilty of a stock T2 and still have a walk through to rear for camping!
Then of course it's a VW to boot :thumb
nobody knows?
