Oh man! I'm currently up near Coffs, too bad I missed it! I love Ska.
I remember seeing the Porkers back in 1989, when they were still called the Pork Hunts. They couldn't get a record signing due to their band name (go figure), so they changed their name to the Porkers, Tired of being Pork Hunts.
Also saw them at the Canberra SKA fest,Skalaplooza in 94, with Loin Groin, Dr. Raju (RIP) Naughty Rhythms and a couple of other ska bands at the ANU. Still got the T-shirt as a momento. Might have a night at home of spinning some vinyl and a few beers!
So what was the problem with the original name?
Geez Brad, Im not sure! Something about them not having any money or, was I the only one back then with a dirty mind, and were they really looking for pigs?
Hey when you gonna pop over and fix my ckicken choker thingy? - Oooh, that could really be misinterpreted!!
