Been a busy few days for me. Pulled all the old furniture out of the back of the kombi to make way for some new stuff.
Had some vistiors over to see Pige's friend, another Oval I am looking after for someone else. And just cleaned up the old workshop.

at work now, so have to settle in and start actualyl doing something for the day... that is apart from figure out where to buy a replacement spring plate for the bug (I broke something relatively important last night 🙁)

You know the bit that slips over the torsion bar, with teh twin plates that bolt ontot he trailing arm? well, trying to put the seconsd one on, I obviously had the first one too far into the tubes, as the torsion bar was about 30mm tool ong and I popped the end off the cover. Ummm, hard to explain but easy to show.

So its just the torsion bar cover that locates the rubber bit

Nope, that is what I called the retainer plate, its the actual end piece that the outer end of the torsion bar fits into. I actually popped the end off it :cry

Oh....never heard of that before. So you need a new twin plate torsion bar.

Yeap,
feel very stupid :alien was so obvious (after the fact of course) but I just didn't look and wanted to get the rear suspension back on and start the pan looking good again. Shouldn't be too hard to get another one though. Pain in the butt bit will be getting it powdercoated like the last one to match the other side. I am betting Brad isn't getting any powder coating done between now and new years 🙁

But that would mean I have to pull all the other side apart and get it done as well...... as tempting as it is, umm, no thanks. But for the type 3 🙂.
I have to pull the other side apart anyways, but I like the red that they got, so I'll stick with it for the oval.
Just realised, this is my 1002 post 🙂
Pick up the square today (hopefully), will bring it back on base and park it for summer. Plan to get it registered now in Feb, probably in time for Dubs to the pub. That way its rego is not due same time as the subaru and I am not made bankrupt for longer.

Pretty sure they were all imported from Hanover! Mine was painted in Germany! The colour sticker is in German!
