Sorry, i just gotta say this..
On these forums, it appears that the abbreviation "T3" has two differernt meanings, some people use 😀it to describe the late model vans, other use it for type 3's.
I've been told by andy (volksfolks) that a t3 IS the van..
Sorry, its just getting annoying when you're browsing topics and i don't know whether people are talking about the vans or type 3s.
Anywho, maybe this is just nit-picking.. but i feel better now :bounce 😀

i class t3 as type 3, didnt no about the van... must not be aircooled then
yep.. a T3 is a late model watercooled van.. also known as the transporter.. i think
so id call it that i say T1 T2 & T3 should be aircooled things makes sense 2 me that way
I guess you have to just read it and make sense of the car that they are talking about. T1 - 4 are the Type 2's, but Type 3's are... well, you know what they are.
As we have waterand air cooled on the forum, if you know what your's is, eg: type 3, then stick with saying Type 3 not T3. There has been a big thread on this ages and ages ago.
'Ah, whatever................'
a T1 is a splitty
a T2 is a Bay
a T3 is a wedge, transporter, vanagon, etc.
a type 1 is a beetle
a type 2 encompasses all kombi's
a type 3 is, well, a type 3
i think it is pretty much up to th writers discretion whether or not they use t or type when refering to the type 3. i have many times referred to it as just t3 and someone always ends up correcting you which i really don't care about as i did it out of sheer laziness
if you see t3 do what i do and just check in case the writer of the post is lazy like me.
cheers and happy new year all!
Oh, crap.
Now I have to change my user name. Would TIII be acceptable? I could be wrong and mean no offence to the van owners, but I get the impression that there are not that many T3 vans around and therefore not that many T3 van freaks on the forum.
I generally assume T3 means type 3, as in a fastback, squareback or notch, but that's just my little world.
Ain't nothin' like the wind in your hair.
I saw T1 T2 T3 movies and liked them all :P
here's a T3
and here's a type 3
there's often the same confusion between t4 and type 4.
this is a type 4
and here's a t4
What about the T101 or the T2000....oh hang on....they were the terminators in the terminator trilogy....commonly known as T1, T2 and T3...:P
I just call them Notch, Squareback or Fastback.... :thumb:thumb:thumb
Squiz....
but isn't a type 2 (bay window) engine called a type 4........
thats engines after they went from the early ones....like the bays with the high indercators. big fat flat engines that look nuffin like the beetle one when put on a bench next to it....
you think that was confusining try being on this end of the screen :duh:

Well I'm glad thats sorted....
I only learnt about the t3 transporter this year at Valla.....
and was a bit confused to say the least....
but Now I know that a type 3 is a type 3 I can sleep tonight...
thanks for all that info.....
a type 3 should always be called a type 3....
Seasons Greetings everyone....
