Thankfully I've been selling some stuff off as the missus was aware that I wanted some rims. Was thinking flat4 BRMs, but saw these and couldn't resist the rarity, the investment, and the cost difference! :thumb:thumb

Thanks Steve. By the way - some revhead in some Cayenne thingy picked up your glass on Saturday. Reckoned it would look good grafted into the back of his racer.

These babies have now arrived and look great [thanks Guy....].

Does anyone know what is the best step to bring these back to full health. I'm thinking sandblasting and powdercoating [and will then spray in the black after - unless the powdercoating looks good as it is]. Or will sandblasting be too strong and the powdercoating not strong enough - so perhaps ceramic coating? Or should I just rub them back by hand?

Any ideas?

I had my sprintstars sandblasted and powdercoated silver. They look great and have stood the test of time. I had them done about 4 years ago and they still look great.

I scraped the original empi stickers off them before I got them sandblasted. Now I have them in a phot album.

I might put my wheels on ebay too because they're not getting used.

Good buy they are a cool looking wheel.

Hey CT who did you use for the sanblasting and powdercoating? Was it anyone on the Central Coast? Did you just spray the black on yourself after or get a shop to mask it up and paint?

Yeah a bit reluctant to scrape the Empi stickers off. Might just have to hunt on Ebay for some or get them repro'd.

I got my sprintstars sandblasted in brookvale and they delivered the rims straight to the powdercoaters who were on the same street as soon as they were done. That way the rims weren't in bare metal for long.

It's not unusual to powder coat wheels. The V8 supercar wheels are powdercoated. Any powdercoater should be able to do it and they will have a preferred sandblaster.

Chemical dipping may also be an option.

Here is a picture of my car with the sprint stars.

I'll sell the wheels and centre caps (no tyres) for $800 if anybody wants them.

Ahah.....CT you've made my day. Funny enough I tried to call Brooky yesterday but they were closed for the hols. No doubt will be back next week :bounce:bounce:bounce

Looks like they did a good job so will send the business their way. :party

Those sprints will look hot on your cab. It's really cool to have a 5th as a spare too.

Cheese graters will look good on the front but they don't have much of a contact patch on the road.

I saw some 155 Michelins at Vintage Vee Dub. Perhaps you could put those on the front and run 165s on the rear.

Don't go any wider than that unless you widen the rims.

That's another option. I had some standard rims widened using some ROH outers. Brookvale spares got them done for me for about $100 each.

I'm trying to hunt out some 135's / 145's for the front, and put my 165's on the rear. Andrew Dodd's going to do some suspension work for me next week to get me down....

Doddy did the work a couple of weeks ago. Dropped 2 inches front and rear. She's scrubbing a bit at the front, so awaiting my order of Nangkang 135's which will go on tomorrow.

Dropped the Sprintstars off at Brookvale this morning to be sandblasted and then powdercoated. Found a nice silver pearl which will give them a nice shine with a clear coat on top.

Not sure whether to paint black on them yet. Will transfer over the 135's onto the Sprintstars hopefully Friday or Saturday - ready for the Euro Day!!!!!

Bloody hell.....the world is getting smaller! It was parked directly behind you. I was even talking to Spook about the cruise and the Nationals, as he wants to come along to both. Funny you didn't hear what we were talking about - that would have been even weirder to say g'day then.

Seeya soon.
