was checking through some posts and noticed you are after or thinking of some radars , i like but these are the shit im not sure of there name i think randars or something , anyway these would be awsome on your 57
There the ones.
Roy is bringing them in.
Might have to wait as I am going to fit a disc front(wide 5) then go Creative IRS, then think about some wheels.
thanks for the pic.
Cheers
Dave
they are the sweetest rims for sure...
nice sig too. 😀
Simply Cruzin'...
Nice sig! he he
I love that pic. I had that for wallpaper for a while.. It's sweet.
Dave why are you making these changes? Not happy with straight axle?
THE LOWEST WITH THE MOSTEST BLING BLING WINS!!
there's two types.
Radars and Randars.
one of them has a flat spoke, and the other has a ribbed spoke.
not sure which is which.
better pic...
Simply Cruzin'...
Jim, the only problem with my straight axle is it limits wheel choice.
I can only fit a 165 tyre and it has to be on a solid beetle rim.
A split wheel has too much off set, sorry, not enough off set as the tyre will rub against the spring plate.
That is the only reason I am going IRS (when I can afford it).
It handles really well and goes really well, just limited to wheel choice.
Thanks Twoguns for the sig.
The wheels are called randars , they are copies of the original radars, they are made in USA for Java Global Enterprises in England.
Cheers

No worries Dave. Might get that off you at some stage!!?!?!
The ones pictured above are Randars, which are repro Rader wheels, originally made by Sears(like Kmart) in the States. The ribbed ones are also Raders, but originally made by EMPI. There is now repro ones of those being made by JPE or something in the UK.. Someone will fix that for me no doubt..
THE LOWEST WITH THE MOSTEST BLING BLING WINS!!
hey dave, i have a straight axle conversions, and i have been able to fit everything from stock rims to widened sotck rims, even the 17inch 215x45 that are on it now, and on the ute i have the cookie 15x7... dont understand why you are som limited on yours????
Simply Cruzin'...
Mine uses standard lenght axles froma beetle and is fitted using adaptor plates, the spring plates are not modified and neither are the axles,
So thats why I can only fit the beetle wheels.
Most other straight conversions use shortened axles , that gives them more room between the drum and wheel arch.
Cheers
Dave
I'll go out now and take some pics.
JGE Rader
5-bolt wheel
Size: 5 x 15
Produced by JGE in the UK. Made from cast aluminium, a very high quality wheel.
Price: £495 set of 4 with caps - Silver
£595 set of 4 with caps - Fully Polished
heres some pics
This one you can see I only have about 10 mm btween the trye and guard
can only get my finger between the tyer and spring plate if I turn my finger sideways
here is the adaptor
You can see I havent washed it since it was painted, here is another one of the adaptor.
Cheers
Dave
One of the main problems is that mine is an early, a 57 so they only have the straight down wheel arches and not the flared ones like later buses.
I dont think there is much price differance between having a Creative IRS and getting another straight axle so I might as well go IRS.
I know RobK swears by Creatives stuff .
I will have to find out from Roy the cost.
But first I am thinking CSP wide 5 discs that way I can keep my dropped spindles.
Cheers

gotta get discs. i have ofur wheel discs and wouldnt have it any other way. can carry heaps of friends or go real quick knowing i am going to stop well.
can see what you mean by the converion, too.
Simply Cruzin'...
spring plate template for you dave , this is all you will need to do plus weld 2 tubes together at the correct length its pretty simple and really cheap when you have most of the parts allready in the bus
hey darren. the ladder appears a bit long. is that right,? i htought it stoped just above the wheel arch.
Simply Cruzin'...
opps wrong pic, i was going to post that pic anyway there is probably 15mm maybe more between the wheel and guard , i dont think the flare adds or takes away anything.
here is one of the spring plate. and i think around the same between the wheel and spring plate and the tyres are 195/ 65/ 15
hi there wes,
yeah i think the ladder is suppose to be higher than i have put it ,i didnt like it so i made up a bracket to hang it from for me it looks better there
cheers wes
I'll just have to wait until after I get the discs.
Also I do like the ladder, I've got the 3 bow rack and how the hell are you supposed to get stuff on or off it.
Cheers
Dave
dave...
Simply Cruzin'...
The JGE Raders are available here in Aus from any of our stockists Australia wide.
Roy.
Looks like I will be giving you my new born.
I will be saving up for a while.
Wes.Its great, think we might use it!!
Cheers
Dave
Roy, so they're the ribbed spoke jobs then?
can you give me a price?
Ta.
dave,
on my bus the space between the tyre and spring plate is 20mm , the space between the tyre and guard is almost 50mm . my rims are 6 inches wide with 195/65/15s tyres , personally i think with what parts you have you probably could have the bus straight axle conversion done over the weekend if you had all the bits made up , all you need to buy are some short end casting axle tubes then the rest is labour. you dont need to change the axles or brakes just the spring plate design as shown in the pic posted before and the tube length. if you send me your address i will send you a spring plate template . id say this will be the easiest and by far the cheapest way and the ride quality will be the same as it is now with the same box. thinking about it i dont think you will have to even take out the box or motor to put it in.
just trying to help its your bus , just thats what i would be doing well thats what i did
Thanks mate, things on hold for a while, will u2u you.
Cheers
Dave
