Yeah it was really cool we did alot of hooning and anoying 4wds. I think i may have pushed my luck a bit far when a guy in a hilux had a go at me stoping him going down the kings board track cause i was coming up. When i got there he abused me and called me a few things i said a few things in return and said that there was more of us than there is of him and i dont think he new what i was on about until he got down the hill and there was 15 vws waiting for him he didnt say much. That poor bug (red rocket) got a bit of a floging after the moblie mechanical crew dyno, andrew, dave and me got it up and flying agian

Well i'd be pissed if I was going down what is marked as a one way track only to find there was some wacker coming the other way!! Be careful, you'll give us a bad name and they might finally go through with there threat and ban 2wd's from the beach. I've been up that track before but the way to do it is to get your mate to stand at the top and make sure it's clear.

Fair Call......

This does not give the Club's or our vehicles the best name in the public eye.

The Kings Bore Track comes out onto the beach about 10mins south of the Freshwater track.
There are a couple of those large bins there so it is pretty easy to find.....and yes it is a one way track coming onto the beach

I haven't heard about them banning 2wds but the Noosa council are pretty close to making it a toll or levy situation for everybody to try to cut down the amount of traffic up northshore.

Wa baja thats a towd and thats its owner andrew and it goes really well anywere bush and sand. Whats this crap about baning 2wds on the beach once upon a time they were the only thing on the beach i have seen a photo of the cherry ventura with about 3 manxs in front when i got beached many years ago and nothing else and lets face nothing goes better on the beach than a properly set up vw

Yep, I remember when it was all vw's and the occasional bloke in a Rangie, cruiser or Landy. But it was also a time of toweling hats, hawian shirts, tight floral print board shorts, old spice, sun tans, soap-on-a-rope and winnie blues. Times do change and vw's are becoming more regularly referred to as a nuisance and blamed for digging up the tracks. I was talking to a Ranger on Fraser some years ago and he said then that it (banning) was in the pipeline. I asked when, he said "How long's a piece of string", so ever since then I've never taken it for granted and done my bit by driving and behaving responsibally. When it comes to 4wd's why have an us against them attitude? When you hoon around them and stir them up, they're not going to think to themselves "Wow, look at that thing go, I'm going to sell my new 'Cruiser and cram my family into the back of a 35 year old vw and drive up the beach in the heat of summer" are they? They're going to think "F***ing c***head, they should ban those things from the beach", and will have the same attitude to the next one they see, whether they're doing the right thing or not. Then again some peope are dicks no matter what you do...

Well I'v have lived in the area for a long time..........enough to remember soap on a rope, and I just brought a new hawian shirt to wear when I drive the buggy up the beach :thumb

I have only only been up Tewah Beach a couple of times so far but must get a good map. As for banning 2wd on the beach I think it has as much chance as banning 4wd's and bull bars off city streets.

As for the them and us, I havn't noticed that. Only a lot of people waving as we drive along the beach probably wishing they had a buggy! All the guys in the surf club want a buggy to replace their 4wd's and all the kids can't wait to have a ride.

I think that was in 95 the ranger told me that, so hopefully it will never happen, although I read somewhere on here a while ago that some people were having trouble getting permits for Straddie & Bribie, depending on the attitude of the person selling the permit. Also read that somewhere down south they weren't allowing 2wd's on the beach.

No it's not us against them. If we're seen doing the wrong thing or purposefully annoying them it'll end up that way.

If I ever bring the baja down again we'll have to organise a beach trip. :beer

I dont beleave its us and them its just some people are just wankers and this guy was one but the guy at the bottem of the hill that was ever so near to ending up on his roof as he was stuck on a bad angle in a patrol was not abusive went 15 od volkswageners came over to lend a hand and he even came up for a ride in the towd and had nothing to say but thanks guys your all champs and and gee these things go great. It wasnt my fault or the three other vws that came up after me its was that he was a WANKER and one of the few that i have come across most just sit back with the eyes wide open or right up there chering. i have spent more than a month out of the last 12 on the beach and he was one out of two knobs that i have come across that will just start i fight cause they can and i dont care who they are if somone starts mouthing of at me they are going to cop it but if he said well look mate this really is a one way track you should not be doing this and that was all i would have copped that one on the chin but when he instanly started swearing and calling me this and that im not going to put up with that. As for 4wd they are good in there own right you can stack 5 people in them, fill them up with gear and tow a trailer to most places but as i dont take the kitchen sink and dont have a family there no good to me.

I know what you mean mud basher, about taking the kitchen sink! I can't get over a the crap some people have to take camping. I have a mate with a cruiser and it takes him a week to get every thing ready and another week to unpack and clean it all up.. right down to the hot shower!

Our work shop is near a major off road c'van manufacturer and some of the heavy metal people think they need to just go around OZ, it's a bit sad. I mean these van are around $100,000 plus and then you have to have the $80,000 truck to tow it.

I am going to plan a major trip in the buggy just for the hell of it, although the wife may not come as she is use to 5 star camping! As a frustrate ex bike rider there will not be a problem taking every thing I need in a buggy.

Thanks for the info on the map 11 CAB. Must try and get one today. I am planning a trip to Frazer some time in Feb.

The rocket was a stock 62 beatle 1500 single port swing axle with 30.9.5s on the back thats it. Country dubber i would not have enough stuff to fill up a baja let along a crusier and a trailer i laugh at the back packers who hire a troopy and stack them to the roof with people and gear and then about 2 meters high on the roof rack i mean as if a 4wd drive was not top heavy enough already. Fraser is a really cool spot and in feb aparently there will be turtels hatching and i have been to fraser lots over the last 2 years and could give you some advice on places to go and see send me a u2u if you want. Graham were is the rest of the photos and all my fraser photos ill have to call terry.

If it was me and a mate we could go camping for a week in a buggy but with a wife you have to multiply that by some 3 figure number then add kids and it goes right through the roof. We've only recently bought a Delica and as there 's not as much boot space as there was in our old Range Rover we had to buy a trailer to match!!!! Why do women need little chairs and little tables, then little bowls to do the washing up in?? It just keeps on building up and up, you want to scream but you keep your mouth shut just to keep the peace.Ahh married life.

I think you will find the red rocket is only a 1300 single port but gee maybe it is a whopping big 1600 😉 But whichever it did prove the point you do not need a big dollar car to go for a weekend on the beach. And that was the point of the exercise.
