After working 6 mths casual but full time, slogging my guts out every day with no sick days off I was given a week's notice. On the positive side they have done me a favour, as I have never worked before in such a negative workplace with so much bitching about all staff in front of other staff on a daily basis. I am the type of person who takes whatever work I do seriously and will always try to occupy my time with something, so to have the boss constantly stalking round all day and even staring at you when you have proven yourself reliable and hard working 6 months later is tiresome and unproductive. He even told me once that his idea if someone makes a mistake is to humiliate them. I could go on and on ............ but the upshot is I now need a job. I live in the Brisbane area.
Last year I completed a Cert 3 in Business Admin, which covers book-keeping, word, excell, database, myob. So while I have learnt these subjects have yet to put them into practice in a business place, so lack a little confidence in ploughing in head first. What I don,t lack is the confidence in my ability to be able to master them with a little training and experience. Prior to that I had my own dog washing franchise with Aussie Pooch Mobile for 4 years - so I have good people skills. I was awarded Franchisee of the Year Qld in 2003 with this company for the conduct of my business, its growth, my help with training new operators and promoting the company at Business Expos. Looking for office work, but would also take something with animals, ie vet's surgery or kennels. Any one wanting a concientious reliable and hard working employee u2u or ph Pam 0402436761

I got sick of working for a$$holes like that, so I started my own business...
The hours are $hit and the boss always gives me a hard time, I don't get days off and even have to work when I'm sick... The bank won't give me a loan, I haven't had a holiday in almost 2 years and I keep getting woken up to go back to work...
But hey, At Least I work for myself:cry
I hate to admit it, but man, I think you're right....

Ive been sacked from many jobs and often it was the best thing that could have
happened to me. Went from one shitty job to the next and if I didnt like it or they treated me poorly I did whatever it took to get the arse in a spectacular way. Othertimes they sacked me for no good reason after I made a full effort at
doing a great job and being nice to everybody.
Now I'm sort of semi self employed and even then you have to be reasonably careful who you upset or it can affect your earnings.

The best is when you know in advance from somebody that the axe is about to fall and you run amock at work doing bugger all, stuffing things up, abusing customers and staff and generally sabotaging the business and robbing them blind until you are chucked out.

Thanks to the retail trade I learned just how scummy employers are and how easy it is to hurt them back.

Thanks for all the well wishes, I am not interested in being vindictive, would like to get a reference for what it might be worth. Guess they will have to blame someone else for any stuff ups now. What I forgot to mention was that it was a family business with a sprinkling of outside staff, and family could do no wrong, ( but they did on an equal basis). Their favourite saying was "someone" must have done this or that. On Friday that was promoted to "some bastard" stole my calculator. My cherished comedy moment was when the stapler was jammed and I showed it to my boss, and her comment was a curt" it must have been the way someone loaded it" and she then proceeded to reload it and on her first use the staples ejected out sideways and hit me. I really had to bite my tongue from saying, it must have been the way someone loaded it. Anyway still open to job offers in a friendly environment . Pam

Sounds exactly like the place where I used to work, right down to missing calculators. It wasn't at Ascot was it? heheeheh

You will find something better, nobody deserves that sort of treatment.
GO MANLY!!

Pam,
We are importers for a new product here in Australia and are looking for distributors/sales types around Australia. We have generally been recruiting only here in Melbourne, but we'd certainly entertain the thought of bringing someone on who has had a franchise type business before.

If you are interested in a sales/distribution type company (you'd be an independent company, so still get the perks of business ownership) then please give me a call on (3) 9923 7590..................

Just a thought,

pam i have a book keeper come & do my gst each quarter (safer than making a mistake)
with your background it sounds like an easy thing for you to get into maybe find another book keeper to help so you get experience then when ready go it alone, front up at a lot of small business give them your speel & accountants offices as well.
theres thousands of small places that prefer independant book keepers to clean up their paperwork just a thought.
good luck

Contact a mob called JAV IT. They employ people on contract, and with your skills might be able to find you something. They mainly employ to large IT organisations who have outsourced some of their workforce. They are Vic based, but employ nationally.

bertthebus... I know how you feel....so many jobs are out there but are based around 3 mth contracts which may or may not be renewed....they don't take people on as permanents but build their workforce through agencies as they need them and let them go when they don't...were I am at the moment more than half the staff didn't return/not asked to after the Christmas break....I've just started another 3 months....but who knows what's around the corner in 3 months time

Good luck!

Boy....doesn't take long for the selfrighteous hypocrites to come out of the wood work.....

I ask questions.....I get bagged for only asking questions about other peoples opinions and I'am told to to express my own opinions......

Now I express an opinion and I get bagged again......Oh and by the way I notice that nobody took "Karmen" to task (including Sax) for having a go at Sax about the same issue as me.

Seems to prove the quote from George Orwells book 'Animal Farm'......"some pigs are more equal than others!"

Appears to me this site has an abundance of hypocritical sacred cows.

And as for 'perfect" Sax.....your little manifesto reads like you are the perfect employee that has been always hard done by, by an array of shitty jobs, always lousey bosses, mostly crap work mates and as you feel you were always in the right and they were wrong......U had the right to create havoc and steal.

Well Sax if they majority of people on this site agree and condone you and your actions, I can understand why (my opinion) the planet is the way it is. :puke:puke

Now now ladies.. let us not kill each other over the grave of this poor deceased thread! :P

Gotta say I partly agree with DC.... at least from the customers point of view, if some asshat employee abused me cos he had the shits with his job, i'd throw said obnoxious individual straight thru the nearest wall/door/window etc...

On that note tho, I would feel inclined to give my asshat of a boss some grief if he were hellbent on ruining me... but none of this rampant childish idiocy that collaterally effects others, such as innocent employees clients etc...👎

Injure the boss where it hurts most... his pride... but dont make an asshat of oneself in the process... it's just as unacceptable as beating your wife/husband and kids because the VW pbew up and made you want to take it out on the closest thing.:puke
