Just thought I'd give it a try...

I just purchased a beetle, and it has the original service records it in.

It was originally ownered by a W. Webster from Essendon. who made the purchase on the 23/12/1972 ...what a cool xmas pressie.

The car itself is a 72s beetle model 1302.

The rego was LKL 279.

I gather it was a work vehicle, as the baby had 92439 miles...not noted in book) by 2/5/78

Then I gather it was sold on by 85...as it's next notation was in 19/2/85 for 110935 miles.

But my favorite part is the service charges in the back..
things like
6000 miles service package - swing axle $3.85
6000 miles service package - double joint $4.55

ahhh...if only it could eb like that today!

I even have the docket for the sale of the vehicle to the original owner....just thought if we coudl find them...they might like it back as proof that they once owned a beetle.

Maybe.

Cheers ppls

Noooo
keep the original dockets etc. It is good to look back at them and see the history of 'your' beetle. If you really get into it, keep a scrap book of your car, with restoration/modification pics etc.

my opinion anyway 🙂

Thats really cool. Would be really interesting to know the history of beetles, where they've been, who owned them and what they were used for. I reckon thats a good suggestion, to make a scrapbook and all. that'd be mad. 😎
