An improvement - classified section would also be nice - no doubt time will tell:P

Looks good.
It'd be cool if one of the Australian VW shops had complete catalogues with prices and the ability to buy online.
now thats is one hell of an improvement.
well done.
the forum didn't make it into the links page :cry

but they are fun to watch
when you push them down the stairs
not bad still needs a online catalogue so i can browse

Ya dead right. Although it is better it is still only in the early 90's as far as websites go. Shopping cart programs really aren't that expensive. The first VW shop in Aust to do it is going to make a killing if they can keep shipping to a decent level. Campsie is a fair hike from where i live. Online shopping is a click away.
Still it is much better than the old one. Keep it updated though. Nothing worse than an out of date website.Congrats

A Online Catalogue is a waste of time, as there are too many price variables.
Communication using the telephone is less time consuming and allows for
" errors", with people ordering and receiving the correct part thay need.
The classified section is a great idea.
and how about more monthly specials like classicvw have on there site.

I don't really see the point of updating your site without putting in a catalogue. You can't see the parts or prices so you move on without buying anything. I have bought thousands of dollars of parts from the USA because I can see the availability and pricing. They don't seem to have too much trouble with "price variables".
My two cents worth.
classic VW if you're a member show prices - if things ion stock then no proce variables come into play if out of stock then a simple note to check price is easy :duh

Do they charge you for going on it?? 😉

i love on line catalogs, they give me a good idea on how much to save for my wish list, ill ring around for prices as well, but if the online option isnt ridiculously priced, and i can wait a week, id rather have the bits land on my doorstep
it would be easier for a company in the states to have prices as they are not shipping it half way around the world. I dare say that is where the price variation comes into it.
mind you, it would be nice to see. Even if it is done the way fossil suggested.

But do they remember all new prices?
If the prices are recorded in any computer format an automated database update should be possible.

I agree with Yogie..
Buying from the US is Soooo easy with their online shopping cart... Using the phone is similar to using Snail Mail.... IMHO
Someone has to spend some money and do it right....
they will be the winners in the end...
I am a Web Site Buyer....
If its NOT there I don't buy it...
I go elsewhere.... and I don't use the phone - only as a last resort... You just need to know what You are buying... My car is not standard and I know what I need to buy...

if anyone wants an online shop on the net website i can get them done for $5k while everyone else charges at least $10k
one site we have done is
www.ausauto.com 🙂

Jesus. Thats gives me great confidence in ringing Vintage Veedub then. Does that mean everytime i ring i could get a different price. Surely the business is run better than that. I understand there are prices difference due to dollar fluctuations and shipping costs changing but overall it would be pretty much the same. If for some reason a product became to dear to get in you update the website with the new price. Too easy.
For shipping and dollars fluctuations any difference is certainly covered by the mark up.
I think Australian companies have to realise that this is no longer a domestic business. The internet has opened up worldwide shops that are now closer than my local fish and chips. Change or be left behind. They are more than happy to take what should be your money.
Don't ignore the signs. People on here are already aware that in most cases it is now cheaper to buy most items from OS just like you guys do. Obvioulsy on bigger items the local market is probably better as shops here get bulk shipping discounts.
It's too easy for people today to jump on the net and compare a price with overseas companies. We know when we are being ripped off. The days of scerecy are over. Hell most of us don't mind paying some mark up for your efforts but some are ridiculous.
I tell you it annoys me when ring a shop and ask for something and then they say we can get it in in 6 weeks. Hello. I wonder if they are then just buying from overseas.
Any how I am ready for all the attacks now.
This is my opinion and in no way am i forcing it on anyone else.

I can understand why you wouldnt want to go with online ordering as it is a lot more hassle than people make it out to be. It takes time to process and confirm orders, organise shipping and keep the website up to date. Its easier in the states because they have such a big market compared to ours.
However whether using the phone is any more efficient is debatable. At least you can see photos and details online and you can take your time.
www.beetleracing.com has online shopping as does
www.classicveedub.com.au

The new site looks great......the front page is very cool....but it needs a side menu so you don't have to click the back button all d time...
....a catalogue would be nice to browse through before calling even.... it would speed the process up on calls n save on email tennis a little....
Can it be administered through the back end by staff....they can easily make alterations to item details as they happen...it's just the initial setting up of the catalogue that would be lengthy....my 2 cents :thumb
Must admit I luv online shopping...you can do it in your own time at anytime...but you can't ask questions...the only downfall...you have to know what you're buying or wanting
Dave you're not in the staff pic .....you're their number 1 marketing person ....aren't you ? 😀
I'd have a guess that if you checked out company records Dave was a silent partner. :thumb

Good stuff, Vintage, I see they are starting to get over the threat from new competition. 🙂
just wnet there again and looked at the early vw drag photos - glad to see there were a couple of Peter Keegans VW drag cars - little known about him but he's a thorough gentleman and quitely spoken about his prowess with VW - someone should do an article on him. He also builds top road cars, karmann, beetle and Kombi (lucky I got this one from him.:blah:blah
