this made alot of people very angry and is widely regarded as a bad move.

Hmmmm, if you got bored of not having a life doing a part time uni degree, definetely don't complete your engineering degree and get full time work ! :thumb

zac- smits... yeah i use to be right into white water kayaking... now that will put hairs on your balls... thats the good gear gettin smashed by rocks all over the shop, especially when your upside down and underwater tryin to do an eskimo roll or somersault out of your wildly careering fiberglass coffin...that is such damm fun it gets the adrenalin pumping big time..

ive been rafting a few times too... nowhere near as fun as kayaking but still a great day out in the sun and water makin friends and havin a laugh..
its something you just follow around the world with the seasons... one day ill get there...

part-time uni and work doesnt mean you dont have a life...
it just means you have to be very selective of the life you want to be having :P
in the beginning, the universe was created.
this made alot of people very angry and is widely regarded as a bad move.

the scholastic institutions that are available to the masses serve only to narrow ones mind.

Yeah nice one E. There's no chance that they serve some function in handing down the knowledge of our society?! I know our uni system isn't perfect but to suggest that the tactful ignorance of any form of acedemic institution is the better way to knowledge is just a bit too silly for me.

Suggesting that Uni is the be all and end all of education is a narrow minded opinion. Certainly an Engineering degree should serve only to teach you a way to think and assess issues and problems, as well as give you a few basic tools to help. All the real learning is done OTJ (on the job).

By the way E, what is it you do for a living ?

oh i believe modern unis are merely a money hungry mass moving institution, however they serve the purpose of education also... i hated the way i was just another number on a seat and despite the fact i was paying thousands a year i had to constantly be present at the uni for all the information i paid for to be made available to me.... they liked to call that a learning tool or a way of making us actually come but to some of us with careers and other obligations it was just farkin bullshit... same for tests.. i had to take annual leave to take some tests cos they didnt schedule any weekend sessions...but anyway, they are a business at the end of the day but one that could be run more considerately, especially ever since all the fee increases also...

Not suggesting they're the be all and end all by any means, just saying that to say that they serve no purpose whatsoever is a bit silly.

By the way if you want to blame someone for the state of the universities dont blame them. Try Brendon Nelson and his cronies in the fedral government. If they get their way and create a tiered university system here like they have in the US we will really have something to complain about.
