Hi all,

I am looking for a used in very good condition steering box for a beetle/type 3 68>. I have a 71 Notch and research indicates that a beetle (not superbug) steering box will fit. Mine has play and is leaking steering oil. I have tried to adjust with the adjustment nut to no avail. Anyone?

Cheers,

Petri

PS. Preferably in Sydney so I can pick up, but of course will consider form other areas :thumb

Unless you can get one guaranteed to be in very good condition, buy a new one. I know Mick Motors or Classic VW (Pacific) can sell you one for about $200 delivered (maybe less cos you're in Sydney). I'm sure the other VW retailers carry them as well, but these two are the cheapest I've found.
Ain't nothin' like the wind in your hair.

I have read soem post in The Samba that new ones non-german often go bad quickly, that is why I was after original German second hand but in good condition. Does anyone have experience with the ones VW retailers sell?

TIA

Mike, that is a very good point... I am going to save my pennies next paychek and get one. Are you using a TRW on your won buggy? I wonder what takes more punishement, a lowered VeeDub in Sydney roads or a buggy in the bush??? 🙂
