Id go you halves, Pete!
Steve.
How much do you think the reserve will be????
I will chat to someone tomorrow...maybe a couple of us could get it.
Matt
Pete
Just buy the lot - I might need some bits - aircooled though!
Ken
550 Porsche Spyder
56 Oval mit Judson
96 Porsche 993 C2
Id be interested, Matt.
Its a problem knowing how much to bid if the details are so vague though...
Steve
Bring it to Australia. I would love a Spyder kit.
Steve,
The reserve is $20,000. I will attempt to get a list of all the parts associated with the sale. We would then need to get them back here... I know a guy who does containers. A friend of mine can do all the moulding of the panels.
Hire a big shed, a dozen ej20t motors and were in business.
Matt
Steve...you can call me on 0416 115 993 if you want to discuss it seriously.
Damn sexy for a kit car. Id love one of those!
I've done the 20' container thing out of Auckland a couple of times, I'm there if you need a packer (auckland ) and help with the shipping...:thumb
That will give me a chance to catch up with Graham again.
I have some contact with the seller so I'll request an inventory.

I definitely interested in a kit if we can get them regoed in Australia. Keep me informed.
Rego here now would be very difficult.

Torsional Beam test, late model engine (less then 3 years old), indicators in the right spots, selt belt light etc etc.
Most of the ICV requirements are not overly difficult to meet. Many are common sense. So difficult maybe, but not impossible.
The biggest issue would be the quality and of the kit. The strength of the fibreglass that sort of thing. The kit would need to be structurally sound for an engineer to be "want" to aprove it.

You guys leave it alone - its built by kiwis for kiwis, cant have aussies stepping in and screwing it up. 😉
Your right Mike, not impossible. But quite hard to engineer the new requirements in and still have it look in the spirit of the original car.
I received an inventory today.

How substantial is the inventory...when it comes to the fibreglass...we can make the whole thing out of carbon fibre for not much more....I spoke to my mate about it.
Rego might be a problem...but if it is too hard we can just build race cars...
Adrian bro, my cook is kiwi, she gets a bit lippy when she is pissed though. So it is not so bad it coming here.
Matt
I was taking the piss.
Apart from parting it out I reckon the only way to make a business like that viable locally is to either have it as a hobby or have a race class based around the car you are producing.
Boof all Kiwi women are that way !
Yeah, so many have tried to build here but few have made a go of it.

Pete,
Could you u2u me the inventory, please!
Im dying to know how viable this would be. Ive got to admit though, Id really prefer to be able to register the cars on Aussie soil.
Matt, Ill ring you tomorrow, which will be Friday.
Pete, is there enough in parts inventory to build at least one prototype/car?
Cheers
Steve
There is nothing to stop you from registering them on Australian soil if they have good build quality. Based on the reviews I've read on these the build quality is good so you just need to get them through as an ICV. Best thing to do would be to ring up your local Cobra Car Club and find out who they use to Approve their Cobra kit cars and then ring the approver and let him know what you are planning on doing and he can fill you in on the requirements.
Here is a list of ADR you would need to comply to
http://www.dotrs.gov.au/transreg/str_adrindx.htm
You can get exemptions for some of these (the approver can tell you what) but I know for sure the cobra guys get exemptions for the Sunvisors and the "no chrome in front of driver" type rules, plus many others.
From the description, yes one car quite easily.
1 chassis unit complete with right hand drive body and two doors – semi finished.
U2U on the way.

Looking for that special lady : PM me for coffee & cake
From what Ive seen the price is always the drawback. Ive talked to the guys at Platinum,
http://www.platinumspeedsters.com/ check out their pricing. Nearly everything they produce is exported. They have branched out into Beach Buggies now.
FWIW - I am up in Auckland this weekend if I can help you guys at all.
I found out today that the guy who is engineering my bug, and he does the cobras...I can call him and see..
Matt
So was it someone here that bought it?
Looks like it's going to my old home town of Christchurch NZ.
I'll have to do some investigating........

I hope they do something with it, it would be a shame for it to disappear.
And besides, I plan to buy one in the next few years.
I had to let the Kiwi's win something! I had a mate handling things. If it were me on the keyboard the result may have been different.
Winston wolf.
