I am looking at buying a bug that isn't a soft top but it has a portion of the roof being that vinyl stuff. It was apparently originally made like this. I think it's like a 1972 Superbug model. Is this true that they came standard like this? I am a bit wary about buying one like this, a normal sunroof would have been nice but not sure.

if it is the one that is being auctioned online at the moment, then it is a sardine can, sunroofs were never that big.

You are probably correct baybuscamperkid but they did make them in Mexico... right up until the end of Beetle production..
I think they would be great.... a semi=convertible...

If it's a a 72 SuperBug as you say, then it is absolutely a sardine... Though it could be a BRITAX conversion which if fitted correctly, is ok. Factory Ragtops ceased production in 1966 I believe. Solid sunroofs were offered there after.

The 'factory' Mexican rags are an intirely different animal...Stay well away!

But IMHO the early factory rags are the best.
FUCH your early!

hey, try this:

daughter went to visit her dad in sydney for two weeks and was really good incar until the first time i was cut off.

then she put up her fingers and yelled some lovely obscentities...getting told off by a 7yo was not what he was expecting

The look on the guys face was priceless, but she still got a lecture when we got home.

And the swearing thing is how ppl know if i'm upset...
