Hey everyone! I have bought a beautiful 1969 beetle have a look below 😀

<img src="http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y6/foxy_fuchsia/mynewbug.jpg" alt="Image hosted by Photobucket.com">

So now over the next 3 months it is going under major contruction. We are sanding it back to bare metal, new paint and nice rims, new interior, recon motor ect.

I am so excited! I am deciding between metallic/pearl pink or pearl white (A real chicks car no matter what 😎)

I will keep you all updated with pics! And if you have any advice or recommend places to go in Brisbane please let me know!

Jo

Link doesn't work....

You could have trouble insuring Your car with pearl paint as if You wipe out a guard... the whole car has to be painted so it will match....
One of the locals here painted his with pearl..... NRMA etc wouldn't touch him... so He insured it with someone else not telling them about the pearl paint... had a dingle and when He told the insurance company it was painted with pearl paint they wiped him.... no insurance....

Oooh thank you bug eyed babe 🙂 Ain't she beautiful 😀 I used to own a 1970 but this one is really nice to. And it has hardly any rust.

Does anyone know how to double check the year...I heard it is shown on the vin number or something. Is that true? And this one doesn't have a complience plate, is that normal?

Yeah I heard that about pearl paint...I called up shannons and they quoted me a decent price and I could do anything to it but I will double check. Thanks for that tho.

Your Bug looks great Foxy....

Under the dash on the sidewall [next to the door] on either side, there should be a small lever to turn the heater on...
this was the only model with these levers....

Fuel flap should have rubber handle to pull to open the door..
the RH side lever is just in front of the fuel handle....

My Son has a 69, and I put fuel in it today....

Give Me Your chassis number & engine number and I can tell You what years they are...

VW made 1969 beetles from the 1st August 1968- 31st July 1969....

she's lovely foxy,

what will u call her??? any idea??

I have two, one is edith she is a 70 standard. Edith is on her way to me from nsw, i will give her some basic touch ups when she get here, but not much. My daughter is calling her 'edith, the flutterbug' I am thinking of getting her a sticker with that on it. She will be my daily while i work on elton.

Elton's a 72 super. Elton is currently under going a costume change. Not sure what he will be wearing when he finishes the change, but I am sure it will be bright and sparkly. .:P We called him elton because his previous owners couldn't work out if he was a she and a he, he is short with generous curves, and prefers to have a man riding him hard of a womans gentle touch!

hope u have lots of fun fixing up ur bug too....

Awww thats really sweet names, edith and elton! The girl who owned it b 4 me called her Daphine, but I don't know if to keep that name or what. I will see what she looks like along the way 🙂

And Lee,

The vin is: 118997184

and engine no is: H1257869

I did see the lever on the passenger side near the floor but didnt know what it was for. And also the front bonnet lever is underneath the glove box. But the fuel flip thingy just hinges open with no pop thingy lol I am being ever so technical here!

Thanks for baing such a help 🙂

I am amazed though this bug is pretty much standard and has everything still on it, like all the carpet, original red interior ect...my last bug was missing alot of general stuff!

haha

just don't talk to soon ok..

both son and i had 'good' car, until we lifted the carpet, checked it out, and what was a pin hole of rust, became a heap of rus under soem 'goop' still not sure what it is, it feels like a soft and gooey putty, but it's black. don't think it's tar either. and i haven't finished to bring i back, so am scared of what else i may find.

But anyway, a straight body is a start, and even if there is rust underneath, hopefully it won't be to much. And since ur planning a resto, it's all good mate.

look forward to more pics foxy

Here is a link to my Bug, It's a 68 but has a Pearl white finish (Lexus to be exact), so you can see what it looks like. A word of warning though, they demand ALOT of cleaning to keep them squeaky clean (I need to clean mine every week, if not more)

http://www.aussieveedubbers.com/forum/viewthread.php?tid=34677

Anyway, good luck and it looks really straight.

very nice, i hope you know what you're doing though, my 6 - 12 month project has taken nearly 3 years, so your 3 months is a very tight time-frame!

i think is was dasdubber who said take ur time frame and triple it.

which is about right.

it's not just time to do things, it's the time taken to procure items, unless u have a totally bottomless pit of money, then ur right, pay an arm and leg, but will be done quickly.

cheers
