Hi guys and gals,
Here's some general chit chat from me... I haven't met most of you but I feel that I know some of you from visiting the forum on a daily basis for about 2 years and taking interest in the posts especially in tech talk.
I reckon most VW owners are really great people, apart from those that don't know they are driving one!
I have been restoring my '68 Notch for about 4 years now and probably won't finish anytime soon. I've also owned a '72 ragtop, a '76 convertible and a '68 beetle 1500. Fortunately I enjoy working on my cars!
I recently bought my new camper from Cairns and drove it back to Sydney and we saw about 25 kombi's on the road during the trip. Maybe 23 people waved and some looked really excited to see another van - me and the missus were too!
Owning a dakdak is really an experience in my opinion. Here's to everyone that loves their VW!

Did you happen to pass through the Sunshine Coast about a month or so ago?..
i remember waving to a kombi that looks like yours and the couple inside seemed to be very excited to see me which was lovely!!

I always wave at other VW's (I miss a few if I am concentrating on the road or half asleep) and its mostly kombis that wave back.
Here we go.
I wave at every aircooled but I only get waves back from other kombis?????

there is a short cut i take to get on the hwy from work its a little dirt track that not many people use,today when i turned into it there was a kombi comming the other way we made eye contact i waved and he drove on past
i thought how rude
it was only after a few k,s down the road i realised i was in the work ute not the kombi:duh

My kombi accelerator pedal linkage is fubar and one of the hinge eyelets on the floor has also broken. have u got a kit or something that will cure the prob? Probably should have started a new post for this...Cheers mate.

when going to the dyno day the other weekend ,was an older guy just getting into his beetle in a servo and he stopped to wave to us all as we went by,thats what i call vw friendly,and kombibob i know what you mean by forgetting you are in a different car as sometimes wave at dubs whilst in my 4wd:o

There is a really nice dark blue splitty that lives, or at leastr used to in Sth melb...
They wouldn't bloody wave,,,flashing my lights, honk the horn ....nothing...
My first day of owning my splitty though I got several waves, ...how happy was I..
When my wife and I started going out, she thought it was wanky, now she waves and spots kombis too.
I pulled up to the lights right next to the same modle as mine a 66' aussie split, I could have been in an econovan for all she cared.. I reved in a mock "wanna drag" type way and she just rolled her eyes...not nearly the same modle mind the EXACT same.... :cussing
saw an delux bug on plenty rd bundoora... it was quite funny as we both looked up to seee each other checking out the others car, that got a toot even...well an aoooooga from me..

I waved to a woman in a yellow new beetle one day, now she always waves to me when she sees me. I often see a young man in a blue new beetle cabrio like mine and he aways waves.

Kombi's Rock On - as for the wave as long it's not that stupid hippie peace sign they used in the KFC ad with the 2 slpitties. Ok so I was in a way part of the hippie/peace action but we never used a peace sign to wave from the Kombi - a full wave or the ever so KOOL single finger lift of the steering wheel
