Air Cooled VWs are called Oil Drippers as they do usually
drip a bit of oil....
I did read where this was built into the engine to stop the chemicals put on icy roads in Europe, from eating the Magnesium alloy engine..... it does work...
Whether this is true... is anyones guess???
I think they just didn't have any good engine sealers like silastic etc back in the olden days....
