Just bought some light grey 2 pac epoxy paint for the shed floor.
According to the instruction sheet I have to wait a week as I laid some new concrete and then I have to use hydrochloric acid to acid etch the floor before putting the paint on.
I didnt realise it was so difficult just to paint a floor.

There is nearly as much prep involved as there was in painting the bus.

Soon the shed will be ready for the new project.

Cheers
Dave

Isn't it infuriating when all you want to do is so simple............. and yet soooooooo hard.

Wonder how people got on years ago, when all anyone ever did was paint the floor and not wonder about all the do's and don'ts and preparation. My Grandfathers garage floor was painted within 3 weeks of laying the cement in 1965 (I remember sitting on an apple box watching my Dad paint it) and the paint was still there, mixed with years of oil, grease etc and a little bit patchy, when we sold the house in 1998 after he passed away.

ooooh im jealous..
at least you'll have a great functional shed by the end of all that hard work..
how easy it will be if a car (not vw 😉 ) leaks some oil on it
how big is the shed anyway?
mmm still jealous...

acid...hmm...i think we bought ours at the pool shop...cheaper there than anywhere else i think...

just a thought for ya dave...

prep is only important if u want it to last....and grey on grey hey...why not just leave it until u have grease spots...then paint it to cover the spots (after acid wash)...
dubless. 🥲

Well, I got the acid, now this is good stuff.
Put a hole in the wooden bench I was using to hold the watering can!!!!!!!

Used 6 litres of the stuff and its all bubbled.
Washed it off and now I will wait till it drys and hopefully paint it tomorrow.

Why bother painting it the missus said.
Well I think it looks better that just crappy concrete. And if the kombi should ooze some character (leak a bit of oil) I can wipe it up easily.
I do go overboard sometimes but do it right the first time and then you dont have to worry

I will post some pics when its finished.

Cheers
Dave

add some fine white sand to the paint to make it a bit slip resistant or you will fall over any drop of fluid on it

Finished the painting.
Took 3 hours to paint the floor.
Trust me to pick a 34 degree day to paint!!!!!!
Then I gave it 3 hours to go off and then gave it another coat.
Took all bloody day.

Last time I will be doing that.

It does look 100% better.

Now its ready for the super secret Project??????

Cheers

Heres a pic of the old shed.
Even though I did all the work on the kombi, including painting it in there it was a bit small. And getting a bit old.

Dave's bus was nowhere to be seen when putting the shed up. mine on the other hand was in the thick. cars are for using and kombi's are well useful. no damage though.

roller door was another story though, put a pic of the dent's Dave.

I think Gra's quirecab survived o.k. though. good job kombi's are tough
