Does any of the group know of any imported T3 1500S Notches still on the road in OZ?
Yep....A mate of mine sold one a couple of years ago and it was at the nationals this year. There's also another one in SA. Plus I met a guy at the nationals who may have one coming to him shortly. We are still confirming whether its an "n" spec or not.

Dis one came from Victoria 1998 and yes! it was at the Nationals having a look again. Must contact AB this week. How does the Oval look at it's new home?

There was one at Nambucca a couple of years ago....
a notch in very good condition... white I think??
I think it may have been a one owner....
Simon Glen introduced Him to Me.....
Had the High compression engine & twin Carbies etc...
I did see a few back in the late 60s-early 70s, and the lovely cloth seats detoriated badly if left in the Aussie sun....
a shame.... I always loved those cars....
any photos of the original interiors....

The new Oval looks good. Still on the back of the trailer but I've started on the sanding. That is removing the sand which was in the wheel wells. Will be a while yet. Got to get the '54 apart first. Some many things to do.
Got the Notch going. Turned out the right carb was the issue. Got another from under the bench and it runs like a dream.
Hey do you have any interior photos of the 'S'?
Hi Wayne.
Yep! got some pics of it but will have to look at what size is max. Other sites for the model airplanes etc is 50kb.
DH
Hey Dallas,
No Hurry. I think I had some when you were putting her together. But that was one or two hard drives ago. Don't know what I've done with them. Thought they might have been of interest to the group.
How did the photos' come out from Sunday!!!
Guy came at 3pm with the Oval. Three of us lifted it out on to the box trailer. Sitting in the back yard on the "other' white notch. Blue one might have an engine in is again before long.

Why the interest in the 1500S imported Notch?
Back in 1967 after learning on a 1956 Oval in 1965 and then owning a 1961 40HP Beetle, the interest in the 1500 vehicle was too much and I just had to have one. It was a birch green 1964 Ozzie 'N" single carb. notch. It was turned into a sort of imported S from a wrecked 65 notch complete with the p/b switches which was against recommendations of all at Lennox Motors, Blacktown where a number of mates were working. The switch bank was a bit of a problem as it heated up with the 6v current going through the aging contacts as was the initial ign. switch. They were expensive back then and many opted for a button on dash for starter operation. P/b banks were thrown out and generally replaced by the 64 model wiper and light switches.
I had purchesed at great expense, a NOS switch from Volksbahn and spent a few years searching for a car to fit it. For anyone interested, there was another 1500S around Young some years back owned by the fellow who was at Canberra VW wreckers but it was quite sad and was rotting into the ground.
My 64 1500S was picked up from Eddie Laing at Barnawartha, Vic. around 1998 and was a complete vehicle with only around 31000 miles on it. The original motor was totalled due to being run into the ground with it being full of red Victorian dust. The high comp pistons had been removed as normal due to heat problems but heads were original complete with the normal burnt valves. The interior was in reasonable shape but it was decided to pull it all and replace. The seats were the later 64/65 vinyl ones, not the 63 cloth type. The only mod from original is backrests from the 72 seats for a bit of comfort and safety.
It was inside at the 2003 Nats but 2004 and 2005 it was outside due to limited visiting time. Also, it has had two runs to Nambucca.
C'mon you T3 guys. Have a look around and get another few of the rare imported 1500S cars back on the road and if you see DAK 64S on the road, give it a honk!

colour looks like one owned down here, owner was in Vic club, i think he had long hair, tall slim bloke
i think.....................
hope that mite help or make someone remember more....
This one hadn't been on the road for about 10 years or so according to the last Victorian reg. sticker. It was all Sea Blue but I added the white top when I painted it. The motor had been moded with an alternator by someone who didn't have a clue. It's back to std except is now 12 volts..
If anyone can track Eddie Laing down there is a very early sq. back in the yard. When I last saw it about 18 mths back it was still useable but screen was gone and was filling with water. It was complete with engine.
Eddie also had a Ruby Red 63 notch. Someone bought it some 6 years back. Anyone in Victoria seen this surface yet??

Hi all,
Just joined up.Check my profile for the collection.I'm based in Auckland normally, but am now travelling regularly to Sydney,Melbourne and Brisbane.More chance to take in shows!
I was at the Sydney Nats over the weekend and was impressed by the quality of the vehicles.Loved the 55 dove blue kombi.Where can I find more details for this vehicle?
On the subject though,....
I owned a 63 RHD Notchback TS in Ruby red for 8 years.Apparently, this is a Canada only model. Can anyone confirm this?
Cheers,
V.
Ts 's were fastys
this is my 63 it has the cloth interior looking for 1x nos fron seat cover and rear seat cover.
I think all 1500s models came 12v from factory.
cheers

T3 range was 6 volt to around 1968 in OZ. The T3 range changed to the 1600 engine for the 66 model and the 1500S disappeared. The OZ 1500S had none of the extra trim except for the seats having single colour covering from memory. Early 64 dash had slot for p/b switches with a black plastic fill to accept the single switches. The F/b was near the 1500S trim inside and out although we missed out on the locally produced ones with the steering column being fitted with the simpler ign. switch. Some Fastys were imported and they had the ign/lock column with side parking lights fitted. The OZ ones were the ones with the "TS" in place of the side parkers. We also missed out on the front disks untill around late 68. The 1 year only 69 had the best of both worlds......... short nose and double joint rear end with the return of all of the exterior trim from the S . The rear pop-outs were still missing as was the centre armrest in the rear.
This is what we saw in OZ although Europe etc had the seats with armrests in these later models.
Can anyone add to any of this for identification of models??
Anyone with 4 off NOS plastic hinge bits for the rear popouts?

wot plastic bit... i have just installed new rubber to my popouts , i think the hardest part was fitting the popouts to the car!!!
"If at first you don't succeed, skydiving is not for you." - Anonymous 🥷
All Notch and Sq/b T3s have a small plastic sleeve which slips over the aluminium curved hinge on the frame preventing excess play in the assembly as well as preventing metal to metal contact with the steel guide in the pillar.
Fitting popouts isn't a problem if you slip a piece of about 0.5 mm x 300 x 100 plastic sheet (polycarb) between the rubber and pillar. A spray of the area with Nifty detergent makes everything slip into place easily without the rubber tucking under.

Looks like def. OZ............. reflectors are the short painted ones. Bumper with overriders didn't belong on the OZ model from memory........ maybe replacement from a 63 Notch or Sq/b or a 66-69 F/b. Have a look at steering column if pos. as well as rear quarter popouts. Simple ign. switch and no popouts = OZ.
Anyone want a set of notch popouts??? Free if you pick up and guarantee they will be used. They need a couple of rubbers.

Looks like Adam from Melbourne has got in first with the popouts! Sorry, only had one set spare but they do turn up at odd times. Keep your eye out at "rust meets" for reasonable ones.

Back seat of "imported S". For those of our T3 Clan who may be looking for the "different" now rare imported 1500S, some shots of rear seat with centre armrest and side armrests as in the 63 "N" and 66 F/b. There must be some still in Victoria somewhere. Keep looking, don't let them die!

Can you tell from pics if it's an imported or Oz?

'tis about 63 1500 which was imported. Great gear there to at least build a car from. Popouts, p/b switches, door and dash etc which is now rapidly drying up. Even the key is in the ign. switch! If you can buy it for a song then grab it for the bits even if the body is RS. Where in OZ is the car??
