I have a pile of freshly-minted Hoodjax under my feet here in my office... no use there, are they? It'd be much better for my feet, my bank balance and YOUR engines if they were all on Beetles!

So for April, I'm offering FREE delivery (COD by Australia Post or Direct Debit on the net) to anywhere in Australia. Or, if you live in Sydney and you can get your Bug to my place (Hornsby area) I'll fit and align on your car for FREE! And no... even though it's April 1st, I'm not joking!

Hoodjax is a decklid stand-off device for Beetles (all years) that allows the top of the engine lid to be propped open for maximum cooling. Thanks to the use of quick-release R-clips, Hoodjax is quickly and easily removed for security and for driving/parking in cold or inclement weather, or for a bone-stock appearance. Ideal for rats or sleepers! Hoodjax is especially ideal for early cars with no vents in engine lid, but beneficial to all.

Hoodjax has been proven time and again over the last decade to assist the cooling of big bore, stroker and turbo engined Beetles. Hoodjax also helps deliver maximum power and reduces the 'hot idle' stumbles that arise from time to time - especially in summer.

Initial installation is DIY and takes around 15 minutes. It requires the drilling of two 10mm holes in your engine lid’s hinge C-brackets, plus the use of some other simple hand tools. Instructions are provided.

After initial installation, Hoodjax can be removed or replaced in seconds – even by the roadside. Another benefit is that your engine lid is now quickly removable for easy tune-ups and oil changes.

Hoodjax are zinc-pass plated (gold colour) ready to fit, or can be painted to match your car. Cost of Hoodjax is $70. Hoodjax is a registered design: 149743

I have an even better idea! You u2u your address details to me, and I'll post Hoodjax to you!😉

(I just got back from the Post Office sending Hoodjax. The idiot in the PO has been undercharging me for Hoodjax postage all these months so the very same day I decide to 'shout' everyone free postage for a month, my delivery cost has more than doubled... 😠 good news for you, BAD NEWS for me... almost unbelievable.. and on April 1 of all days, too...)

If you have an old bean-bag... it is very handy for 'sitting' your engine lid on to smash out the hinge pins! WD40 (or similar) is also helpful.. as is a nice big nail

It's not so much the scratching of the paint on the outside (and I stress that this was a problem specific to me, and not VWCOOL's instructions), it was that the metal holding the hinge on the decklid was rusty and therefore weak - it didnt stand up to the hammering I gave my particularly stubborn hinge pin. It got torn out.. Just be wary if your decklid aint in rustfree condition 😉

But I still love the product!
