A big thankyou to everyone who came down and said hello at the stall / table [whatever....] at the Nats. Especially to those who sat in when people unfortunately missed their scheduled time.
Also a great big thankyou to Ryan [Warb] for the great banner and the AVD stickers.
We made $135 out of sales [confirmed by myself, Jen, and Zack], and the money will be donated to Canteen. I will post up a copy of the receipt for confirmation. That is an excellent result based on the fact that we were just sitting around having a chat, and explaining to people what AVD is about. Imagine what we could do raise with more planning?
I also have the remainder of the stickers in my possession, and so they are also for sale for $3 each. I will send some interstate if someone can be a collection point for funds. Remember, all proceeds to go to Canteen.
I also have the banner at the moment, so if you want to do something at your next VW event, please let either myself or BenettonVW [Jim Gow] know. We will need to work something out for the banner to travel interstate.
I'll post some pics up in the morning once I download them all.

What are the stickers like? Are they suitable to put on a window of a car?
Here's a pic of the stall and the banner. Pictured left to right are [standing] Brendan [GL1972], my bro, Luke [Pyr0], Suzzi's hubby [damn forgot his name], Suzzi, and Clare [beetle_girly]. Not sure what was going on in the pic - a very quiet moment indeed.

a big apology from me squizy, it took me 6 hours to get to the nats from newcastle, i did not even get to the twin servos on the freeway, right hand rear drum brake exploded. my mates where driving my new bug, they went back home and got the car float and we eventually towed the old girl down and got in there at about 12:30. I had only just put the tv and ps2 in the old bug, so when i was stuck on the side of the freeway i passed the time by watching herbie goes bannanas, once again a big sorry for not getting to the avd stall! was there a hard luck award, i should of entered in that.

The thing about AVD is that it is a "virtual" club in a sense. If you want to do something for your show, start a thread and see what volunteers you get. Put your hand up to run with it, and then go from there. We had people dropping in all day just to have a chat and put faces to names.
Check the thread we had for the Nats, and create your roster. Also remember to take a copy of the roster to the show....unlike us. :P.

If anyone is going to have another AVD stand a suggestion that was passed around on the day was maybe a laptop with screen shots of the forum so we can actually show people the site and what it's all about.

Congrats. I've been dying to see the car and the quality and care really shows...
She deserved to win, that beetle is clean enough to eat off. And got driven up from victoria, that's what it's all about in my books.
The photo of the AVD desk was taken at a critical moment when senior members were busy debating and deciding who would be the next Pope.
That's why we all look preoccupied.

Yep I've always said we need a couple of computers at these events...go directly online from an event...it would be great to set somethihng up next year
I didn't go into that bar area at the showgrounds but notice that they have a row of computers set up in there..... maybe we can arrange to use them next Nat's???

A Laptop on the stand would be the best theres a phone line close by
It doesn't need to be connected to the net... screen shots can be made and people can be shown those.
Simply cache a whole bunch of dicussions. Pick a few interesting and indicative ones. They can then simply be stored locally on a notepad.
Then people will see what it actually is and may be inspired to come on line.
Yeah that would be good let people know what goes on in the VW world LOL
