I have had three Bora's 2002, 04, 05.. All V5 auto's.. beautiful.. drive is good, fit out is excellent, build quality is great.. Just got a new one (black V5) yesterday.. 16 kilometres on the clock.. The only thing to match in the small/mid car market is the passat/golf and maybe the audi "a" series..
By the way, my wife drives it.. I prefer type 2 bays.. (or maybe my old 635 CSi)
Yeah the Boras are nice, I am waiting until the new Mk 5 comes out and I will probably trade my cabrio in on one
🤘
Boras are golfs with a boot.
Get the V6 4MOTION they are cool.

Mrs Doc has had a 04 Bora V5 for almost a year.
Has been a great car will cruise or take a flogging no problems.
My only negative is the 5 speed auto tends to race a bit down low but as it gets older is getting better (flog it no problems)
Have not driven V6 4Motion but it would have to be the nuts guts
Advice to you
Try to get V5 as aposed to 2l for that extra poke
Try to get V6 as apposed to V6 BUT BUT this model only comes in MANUAL which took it out of the equation for us.

The V6 was the only 4 motion . V5 and 2.0l was auto and manual and tiptronic on the later model v5 .
The early v5 was 110kw and the later was 125 . Easiest way to tell was the rear 5 on the V5 badge was red . Main problems are air-flow meters , coolant temp sensor and window regulators .
Have driven a V6 4mo. Absolutely the nicest car of the series. It just grips and goes. The V5 is great, esp the DOHC motors from 02-03 onwards. The 2.0 is a willing cruiser. Dont let anyone tell you they are underpowered. All 8V VW engines from the Mk1 to Mk4 have torque just where its needed, so it always feels easy. I would never buy an auto, though. Slushies just sap power.
Big thing to look out for (prolly only thing) is window regs. They can be pricy, and tend to be a weakness. Plastic parts=failure. Windows will drop into doors randomly. This isnt rampant, but only common fault.
