in sydney today showing people my superbug and i take the buyer to a nice quiet street so she can hav her first experience driving a 'kooky' Beetle and at the end of the street was a T intersection with a very busy main road.

as she approaches the stop sign i realise she hasnt gone for the brake.
i look right and its 2 lanes coming towards us full of speeding traffic and we're headed straight into it!

I scream "STOP!" and she ploughes on into the first of the 2 lanes of traffic. i see the cars coming towards the drivers door fast, i turn away,

my body braces for impact.

at the last second she pushes the brake and we stop inches from the 2nd lane which has about 5 cars in it. very lucky they changed lanes when they did and the lane we r now parked in is empty.

she freaks out.

we manage to reverse out of the lane and back into the quiet street.
she says she couldnt find the brake, she says the peddles r "funny"...

needless to say, after that i knew i wasnt selling the car to this girl.

How scary is it when you think you're about to get collected!
Thursday night me and my mate were in the Kombi heading into town, stopping at a T intersection from a small road onto the highway. Some dipship comes screaming off the highway in his little jap car, cant take the corner and comes into our lane and missed the Skyline in front of us by mere feet, and then almost hits the Kombi in the drivers side front but my mate saw it coming a long way off and swerved out of the way.

I f'cken HATE dipshit drivers who think the roads are a race track, kill yourself by all means but dont endanger other road users! :mad

scary stuff sam glad you and your car are in one piece 😠. i had a similar well....kinda similar incident today. i was happily cruising along the esplenade in my baja today when a woman pulled out onto the road from a t intersection that led down to the beach carpark without a single look. im about 10 metres away and lock up my brakes and then pump the pedal so i wouldnt slide and turned out to miss her by no more than an inch i pull up on the side of the road and the lady has stopped in the middle of both lanes with a blank look on her face.

a very angry nick steps out of his narrowly intact baja and do u know what she said to me.....wait for it.......

"i thought i was on a round about" jesus christ did she think they built one while she was at the beach? i mean it wasnt there when she drove in!

i really should have gotten her license number.

What would have happened if you guys had been in an accident? Would you have been covered in insurance?

I'm pretty sure insurance only covers you if you're inside the car with the test driver. If they take it for a drive by themselves, bad luck!
It's a nice car VWFOOL, you will sell it just need to wait for the right buyer!

Man, how could you not find the brake pedal. The first car I drove was a vw beetle in my mate's acerage. I hadn't even driven before, nor even had a licence. And I was only instructed the basic (eg. put foot on clutch while braking, slowly slip of clutch and push accelerator in 1st gear etc.) And I was perfectly fine. I didn't need to look, there was no need to see what pedal to push, you just felt it and knew it was there. Even if the foot brake fails, she could have still lightly touched on the hand brake, (Not too much, otherwise she'll be squeeling, along with the tyres). Stupid girl. I bet the beetle just didn't like her. lol. :thumb
