There are a few notches that get my inspiration up to keep my notch in the hope that I can restore it soon. Although my notch is a late model, I will never stop dreaming of owning a 69 and doing it up like one of the styles below.

1st Notch

2nd Notch

3rd Notch

I don't see these in the Type 3 Registry. Whould you be interested in adding your cars? Including a photo is also encouraged.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks,

Dennis

speaking of late type threes, european ones got much nicer front indicators than the awful 'lego brick'ones we got here and in the US. Anyone know if we could get a set somewhere over here? ClassicVW where are you?

Yeah I have a late one and I will do my best to restore/spruce it up... photos of late fixedup notches are hard to find... In fact, I haven't seen one single late notch for inspiration. I have seen a sweet german look late fastback, silver with newish porsche wheels (17 or 18") and it looks sweet. When money permits I wnt to do the same, german look my late notch... I can see it already, big porsche wheels, low profile rubber, silver, low, big engine...<wake up son>

Anyway, if and when I am done with my current notch then I can start thinking about an early one, unless a really good deal comes up fro a 69.

Type 3 detectives have those clear ones in type 3 selecta, so I figured they were a european thing.

just had a look, these ones...47.50(pounds)

Custom Speed Parts also has clear lens available.

http://www.csp-shop.de/cgi-bin/shop2/shop_main.cgi?func=start&wkid=39951618549

Their link is not specific, so you have to go to Electric, then Turn Indicators, then Type 3.

I am not sure how good they fit compared to the original Hella lenses, but the clear ones do look nice.

I'm keen on the fasties... prefer early but they're hard to find or quite rough... and my wife would complain if I bought another one home - unfortunately this is fair enough.

I have seen both orange notches, the one with the 2.0 fuchs. The guy took a very short time to restore that car and he did a really nice job, looks good and would like to see it with Porshce cup wheels.

the second orange notch above I have sen as well. Apparently it's a "French Look", not sure what constitutes french look, maybe something similar to a german look but without the big wheels.

French look vs German look

German look cars are generally one colour eg Porsche Silver or RS Blue. They also generally have BIG high tech motors and high tech brakes / suspension, with HUGE Porsche wheels, although many also opt for smaller wheels that are reeeeally wide!

French (/ Euro) look is generally a stock car with Big wheels and graphic paint jobs- like the one above and the following bug... nice

From what I understand French laws are really strict regarding modified vehicles.

Thats my understanding of the "looks" anyway- both are a lot more relaxed than the old skool cal look crowd!
