For you PPL over the border it's a lot easier. NSW is so bloody strict it's not funny, they want all the old cars off the roads and its getting increasingly harder to keep them up to scratch.

the only good thing is that it forces us to keep them up to scratch, i would have to say though that there are plenty of dodgy rego people out there, because my bus was already registered previously with all of the problems that were picked up. having said that, i would feel much more comfortable buying a nsw registered vw than anywhere else, for that matter if i lived in nsw i wouldnt bother buying a vw unless it already had rego for nsw

they didnt insist on the heater part working, just that air flow could be felt across the window

Dont you need to get a blue slip and a pink slip if the car has been out of rego? If you are just re-registering the car and it hasn't been out of rego you only need a pink slip.

I'm seriously concerned about my squareback cause with the amount of the bloody rust that is in it I doubt it will pass. I guess I had better get out there some time very soon and make it look presentable.

Coopgirl, get that whip cracking on HRM!!!

Current price on a blue slip is about $44 and high twenties for a pink slip. Also you can't always get the blue slip done where you can get a pink slip done. For example the local Ultratune can do pink slips but aren't authorised to do the more thorough blue slips.
