i would go with creatives, as for your side window dilemma, i would get the original window frames (inner and outer ) that is the whole side of a wreck, and take it and your bus to a good panelbeater and ask how much to fit. inner frames can be picked off as a whole panel, and refitted. but the outer skin needs to be redone entirely. hope this helps! andrew

wow, sounds a big job to do the side but would look a lot better...you could even go to a 13 window, if you found 2 wrecks😎

From vague (and I mean really really vague) I thought I read somewhere that Creative made some sort of weld in panels/edge strips for windows (apart from their safaris). Try Roy and see what he can find out from the UK, haven't seen naught from the US on the Split front.

lot of work to convert the side windows, all depends how far you want to go with it and how much to spend and what you will be using it for?

To be honest it might be cheaper to buy another standard window kombi.
To replace the bodywork so that you can fit original windows, you will have to cut the whole side sections from the gutter to the body line.
This would mean a respray.

I would get some quotes first and visit a few crash repairers.
I think you might find it hard to get someone to quote on something like this nowadays as they make their money by just replacing parts on the damaged cars, not many will actually do welding work of the standard you would need.

It is a big job.

Cheers
Dave

While its nice to see original looking buses, its also nice to see unique splits with thier own character. If you are turning it into a camper maybe you could fit louvred windows into the pre cut openings. Only a thought, at the end of the ay its your choice nobody elses.
Have a look through VWMA and UK mags and get a few ideas
