It will do plenty to help keep the popularity of the air-cooled scene happening. NASCAR racing, although best described by Australians as racing with the steering lock still on, is huge in the states, so plenty of people will flock to see it.

I also think it's quite ironic that Volkswagen of America have been so determined to squash their air-cooled heritage in order to advance new car sales, and yet their own country produces a movie to re-kindle the whole thing again. Could only happen in America. Good value.

I agreee, but why didn't they use Raders or Fuchs or even Porsche cup wheels a-la Das?

The original Love bug was more interesting where they did rally - at least there was some kind of adventure. Not like oval racing hehe

It looks great. I saw the trailer at the cinemas last night when i went to see "The Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy" (An awesome movie, been ages since i saw a great comedy)

Yeah, it is crap that its NASCAR, but dam that late beetle looks like a ripper. I hope im the next guy to come across herbie and race with him. "HA, its funny on the movie trailer when Herbie's checking out the girl New Beetle" (I'm not sure if that part is on this trailer URL that the poster provided) but it was on the one at the cinema.

OK any VWDCQ members out there with the details of the Herbie movie night at Stafford (june 18)????

What I have heard (unconfirmed, so please give better details if I'm wrong!) There is a cruise from Newfarm to Stafford, priority parking for VW's at cinema, cinema reserved for VW drivers showing new Herbie movie. Also there's fancy dress and prizes etc???????

Also heard you need to pre-book a place.

Some info please as I would like to make it along to this one
Cheers,
Richard

Sam was at the BLBVW club meeting last night so got the low down,
Looks like most of the details were pretty right (how unusual).

Their meeting New farm park ~3:30pm Sat. 18th June, hoping to start cruising to Stafford ~4pm or soon after (not 5pm as originally advertised). They will do a ~30km cruise to get there with some media en-route to take piccies which should be fun.
You DO need to prepay and looks like it will be closed very soon, so get in now if you want to join in! $9 adults, $6.50 kids
So far they have filled one cinema, and are hoping to either fill a second, or the "large" cinema there.
There are also prizes for the best fancy dress and best done up car (all in Herbie theme).
Sounds like a great night and well organised with plenty of fun. I think some of the food places there (at Stafford) are also offering cheaper meals, and there should be time for a quick bite before the movie ~6 or 6:30 I think.

There are also a couple of media setups planed on the Wednesday and Thursday night prior at Mt Gravatt and Chermside respectively. There will be a few VW's there, so watch the news or go look if you’re a local.

😎 :bounce
