ok, Hi, im Chris [Hi everybody]

I had a mate who owned a late vw beetle in the backyard of his acerage. He told me to get in, and we hooned around the back yard fishtaling and having the best time of our lives. That was when i got hooked, bait, line and sinker (or however it goes)

So i looked into it on the internet. (beetles that is). I became adicted, [literally] craving to see or know more about them every day. My want for a Torana faded quickly, and it was vw all the way.

Then during my search through carsales.com.au, i came across a vw beetle based buggy. At first glance, i was like WOWWWWWOWOWOW! I wanted that, I could kill for that. It was going to be my first car, even though it would probably take 4 years + to get it.

I searched the internet more, with the craving growing. 1st, i came across www.beachbuggy.com.au. A beach buggy provider at Corrumbin (south Queensland). I loved them. But they weren't as nifty/sporty/sparkly as i wanted it to be.

So my search continued. And out came www.sharpbuilt.com.au. Yes, oh Yes, i wanted one of theirs. a GS Limo Sportsman with a GS Limo Offroad chassis/running gear. And from there on, months of research has developed my juicy brain up to be prepared for the construction of the kit. (however, the one om planning to get is semi-preconstructed.)

So from there, i wanted more info, looking for donor chassis and pricing them. And when i came to quieries i couldn't find answers to, i emailed KlubVWoffroad for help. They refered me to your guys, saying that you guys were the ones who would be best to help me.

And here i am, still researching and dreaming. Pretending that my mums ford laser is a buggy, imagining driving in it, thinking of what i would do with it.

My goals in getting this buggy is to stand out of the crowd. Not to be some wanna be cool ganster, but to be an individual, to be me. I want a vehicle that has character, that is fun (especially after checking out KlubVWoffroads video clips of the buggies having fun in the dunes). I want to get into the offroad concept, have fun. I want to show off my individuality and turn heads.

I want a car that will also be able to handle rough terrain, rough conditions. You never know what terrible things you may come across when traveling. (floods, storms etc.) I also want to achieve something in life, have a decent hobby. Building a buggy is a challenge for me (well a start) and gives me something to do for fun. Whether its adding this, modifying this, starting a new project, going for a sunday drive or joining a club. This is my goal/ambition in obtaining a buggy.

My background. Well, i am in year 12 in school at the moment. Im an Australian, white caucasian, Scottish, Irish, italian descent (from my great great grand parents), i go to St. Laurence's College, South Brisbane. I attended St. Matthews primary. I got 5 As and 3 Bs in my last report card (not bad for an OP ay?) and attend the subjects of Physics, Chemistry, Information Technology, English, Maths B, Art & Religion.

I plan to go to university next year and obtain a degree in Architecture. I have no enemies, have a lot of life stories (when it comes to embarrassment and girlfriends), have great friends and hate drugs, smoking, strong-alcoholism.

I see myself as being friendly, just, sometimes wierd and random, intellegent, creative, and accepting of all peoples from all cultures and am willing to learn. etc. etc. (I'm being honest, not up myself).

I also work at Byrning Spears and happen to be lucky enough to be the only male working there.

I am only a couple of months in experience when it comes to vw beetles and buggies, so i haven't got much knowledge when it comes to the location of information. And this is also my first forum i have ever joined. (hence why i don't have much knowledge with the use of a forum, like this one)

So there you are, a little bit of info about myself.
So, yeah.

No problem Squizy. I will enjoy it greatly, and i will take care on the road when i get the licence. I will be too busy hooning offroad in the buggy to be doing it on the road. lol. Anyway, hooning is pretty much suicide, (if you die) or murder (if you kill someone else in the process)

Hey, can you guys tell me how to get those images up under your name and under each post?

Mate.. I got my 1st beetle around your age.. Now (thirty years later) I've got my son his 1st car (a '67 ) sitting in the garage just waiting for him to get his learners (next year).. I am currently well into dual cabs with a project to build a go anywhere vehicle.. Good luck with your future project.. take it easy..

nice one chris.. i was similar.. my cousin had afew beetles... about 20.. and i got hooked aswell.. at 17 i got it - a 68 semi-auto.. its awesome.

i have also "done it up" to be unique, and reflect me - corny, and into old kinda stuff..

VW's are easy to make stand out on the road, and not look like a try hard gangsta/ricer

but when they see me coming, they all have a look 🙂

arcitecture? that'll take a few good years! my mate is doing it atm in uni - lots of fun but he reckons 😉

I got my first bug at 16. It was a 1968 semi auto, was a total heap of junk and kept on breaking down all the time (especially when I was going somewhere important ie: uni exams, on a hot date etc etc). I had to fight with my dad to buy it because he hated (and still does) VW's. But in the end I won !!! I had to eventually get rid of it to a wrecker because there was just too much wrong with it and I couldn't afford to have it off the road all the time while fixing it !

When I look back they were the best times of my life.

It's great to see younger people enjoying VW's !!!!!

Thanks guys. Yeah, its gonna be mad having a vee dub for a 1st car. I plan that while i build my buggy, cause i need something to cruise the streets, i might as well get a cheap (but workable) beetle.

Its pretty cool to see that most of u guys had them as 1st cars. It just shows that im thinking straight, which is pretty cool.

yeah, im looking forward to architecture, its gonna be a lot of work in uni, but it will pay off. it will also have a good wage to fund my veedubb obsession.

yeah, I agree that the veedub is a great car, regardless of the model (beetle late/early, baja, buggy or even a kombi). They have character, originality and are pretty cheap to run (if they aint got much running gear problems) and only a beetle can cure my craving/obsession that is constantly haunting me every minute.

thanks guys for all the friendly posts. Its great to have friendly people around this forum (especially getting crap from the other members in the other posts.) But im over that, and i stood up. He he.

Thanks everybody.
