Gday guys I was just wondering of peoples experience with CB Performance in America. Has anybody bought goods of them, I am considering buying some drop spindles for a 1970 beetle disk brake type of them. Are they good and is this the cheapest way to get them. I have been quoted various different amounts here in AUS. Ranging from 780 to 1150 it appears that you can order them for about 160US but shipping is a killer at 130US What is your advise guys. I am looking to do this within the next month. Thanks for your help Ben Dickens. If you have any info that you think would be of help u2u me "Harryman".:vader
I got my drop spindles from them.
yeah shipping is pricey, but then you pay extra import tax on top.
ended up in total costing me about $900 to get two sets of king pin drop spindles.
shop around.
the cb quality is excellent, but you pay for what you get. 🙂
Vintage Vee Dub have them for around $550 per set. I was looking at them last week, I know they have stock of both king and link pin and ball joint ones.
Sorry Dave, I beat you to it !
Yeah I got mine from Vintage. Fast and pretty good price. They made a massive difference to the handling of the car too!
I hope you boys get these modifications RTA approved when you fit them.
I was told by one engineer that I had to get CB dropped spindles, X-rayed and crack tested as they are Cast-metal and CNC before they could be certified.
It was hard enough finding an engineer, never mind someone to perform these tests!
Has anyone else investigate whats required?
Cheers

I just got my 70 bug blue slipped and engineered for a number of things, including a set of CBB drop spindles. I provided the engineer with the specs from the seb site, referred him to Wayne Horsfall in Ulladulla (who knows a fair bit about these things) and satisfied himself that they were a quality product, manufactured for VW. Once he knew all the info the car sailed through engineering. I do not know why any other engineers would do it any other way.
