Hi all,

Coming back from Temora (NSW) yesterday arvo with my daughter, the bug suddenly started to become very loud. While pondering what the problem could be, we heard a couple of 'ker-thumps' at the back, assuming we had picked something up off the road.

But...it was the final 'pwang' that caused concern, followed by lotsa noise and gurgling....out we get to see what was going on...

And yes, tailpipe #2 had parted company back up the road. I walked back and nabbed it (note to self: even though it isn't joined to the car, it will still burn your hands!).

So, now I have this super-cool sounding beetle, making many heads turn as I drive around town (woke up all the dozy Monday-morning drivers today).

I intend getting it fixed ASAP, I am hoping that it can be welded back on, or a replacement welded back on......I am hoping I am not yet up for a new muffler.

Can anyone tell me....while I look around into getting it fixed, am I doing any damage to the car? From memory, I think it may use more fuel, is that correct? Anything else I need to know?
