Well, as anyone in the right mind would know, hooning on a public road will most likely result in your or someone elses death or terrible pain/anguish that will haunt you for the rest of your life.
But, if your in your own property (which is fairly large) and is clear and non-hazardous (no trees, no nasty surprises), then hooning can be one of the most adrenaline pumping, fast action past times.
So, for those who are lucky enough to have a large property, submit your stunts/tricks you know how to do in ur buggy/beetle. Whether its something simply like a burnout, or a fishtale, or even balancing on 2 wheels or doin' a wheelie (if its possible).
Post your tricks or knowledge of tricks now!!!
:P

my car ain't powerful enough to pull that sort of $#!t (much to my parents relief) but one day i tried to do a wheelstand in reverse. point uphill, reverse flat out down and slam on the brakes. theory is the back wheels dig in a bit and the front is propelled upwards. it didn't happen. the brakes weren't good enough.
then there was the time i drove on my roof for a moment. but that weren't fun... :duh

He he. yeah, we I had that trouble when trying to drift. Hit on the handbrake, and it wasn't good enough to lock the wheels, let alone having to spin the steering wheel a million times to get it to turn sharp.
lol

i always had the problem of getting in the mud, having one wheel drop into a hole and getting stuck as all the drive went to that wheel. so it was a pain in the @$$ to get sideways. then we welded the diff (it's ok, it's offroad only) and now it a pain in the @$$ to keep straight. so i don't.

I'm not familiar with those, what are they exactly? Are they road worthy?

They are a hand operated type brake which brake the rear wheels individually to assist turning. kinda like on a tractor..
.
As said above, they are two handle either side of the hand brake that operate of an individual wheel
In the pics you will note the two blue handles left and right of the purple hand brake lever.

oh, i see. My mates got em on his L bug. it was a bit buggered after we did a shotty job of replacing the handbrake cable. It was quite a challenge to fit it when trying to pull it over the handbrake stick so we could connect it through. hard to describe it with words, but we got it done.
Yeah, those would be helpful to use, wonder why cars these days don't have em'. Well, i suppose the manufactures don't expect them to drift in the cars. he he.

I would love a set of those Turning Hand brakes, How hard are they to put in and where would one get a hold of funky little bits of technology like that..???
i wanna know to. Cause my future buggy requires a vw beetle 1500 floorpan, and im not sure whether it comes with those. Maybe u should ask custom offroad.
Hey manx_xtc, where did u get em'? or did they just come with ur rolling chassis when u built the buggy?

No your bug floorpan will not come with them as they are specialised aftermarket items.
They are more to assist turning in tight situations than to drift, pivoting on the wheel which is braked.
.
where do u get em'?

I wanna do that. My mate has given me a challenge. When i go to the dunes (if i ever get a chance and a good buggy), we are going to see u can do the highest jump.
Of course, him being in a light bike would fly way higher, but just wait until i show him the potential of an offroad vee dub. Have to make sure i don't land on top of him, he he.
