Jay - the error you are getting is also about the anti-virus program you may be using. Check that it is not blocking port 6666 or 6667.

I can connect to A server using mirc, its just not the one that I want! Can't seem to figure out how to connect to
www.centralchat.net which is where our chatroom is.... any ideas? i've looked on centralchat.net and can't find anything to help.

Nah, the java one absolutely WON'T work. I can't connect to the right server through mirc.

Hey Jay, are you using McAfee 8.0? If so, you need to unblock the port in the VirusScan console. There will be a port blocking configured for 6666 and 6667 on your PC. Right clck the anti-virus system tray item, choose the console, choose the port blocker, turn that port blocker for 6666 and 6667 off.
