how deep is the dish part. in other words. is it deep enough/big enough to fit an intercooler in there with some sort of protective slats over it?

Problem would be the escaping air...secondly any tail like this would not get airflow after a certain speed for an intercooler. If that is where you want your cooler, you have to put thermo fans behind it like vwrx of reub.

hmm. this was the only feesable option i am able to think of for itnercooling the motor.

maybe i could run water to air coolers under each fender?

i cant see that clearly matt

what is it that you are doing for intercooling?

and are you planning on upgrading the cooling or keeping standard?

The intercooler is off an sti.. pretty much the same as all new wrx's. The pipes you see are 100mm flexible ducting that goes from under the back window into the box containing the 2 x 9 inch thermos.

nice. any thoughts on being able to put a "front mount" intercooler in. even though it would more than likely not be able to get mounted at the front??

i understand mounting at the front would cause serious lag. would there be a way to overcome this?

You could put one anywhere..... For response in a instant, you need the cooler as close a possible. Front mounts are only a term for the position of the intercooler not the type. I cannot see a way of reducing lag to the front...Its simply volume of air being moved and then required to be moved again, with the less = back on boost quicker.

I just finished an intercooler box for IN THE WEEDS...here is a pic...
