Adz if it's office stuff wear a suit. If it's more towards what you've been studying, then maby less formal. Remember, first impressions are important. And good luck too....

Dress nicer than you would if you had the job - your presenting your best side to them not your everyday! If you would wear a tie in the job, wear a suit to the interview, if you would wear a shirt and no tie in the job, wear a tie...

iam with VW envy, the next level up from what you would wear at the job. Suits not probably that required now days for most interviews unless, thats what you will be wearing everyday.

Also just mkae sure its clean, ironed, and nice. Nothing worse than a cheap tie, miss matched to a un ironed shirt !!

can't go wrong with black dress pants, nice collered shirt and a tie. Make sure your shoes are shiney. Have a shave and wash behind your ears

Sorry to burst your bubble but it sounds like a crock - set up to exploit the willing! Make sure the retainer actually exists and know what you have to do to get it, also watch for on costs, they'll probably expect you to cover your own expenses (travel etc) with the retainer!! They may even ask you to pay for training or something equally illegal! They have nothing to loose - and know that they'll get people applying!! Its door to door sales work...

I hope its above board for your sake!!

Chewy
if you are serious and only going to a general worker bee position I'd suggest better than jeans but not formal slacks, good shirt (both clean and ironed) not sneakers or steel caps but not spit polished shoes either. Basically I agree with VWEnvy. If you would wear work clothes normally, then try what you would wear to a good restaurant.
However if its an office job, then you would normally wear a tie or good shirt etc - so possibly a suit is the way to go. But if you do that, make sure that the suit is both clean and not too old and worn.

I have quite a bit of interview experience (both for myself and recruiting)

Never ever wear jeans ! and especially don't wear runners

Neat, clean IRONED shirt and pants. Try not to wear black and white as you will look like a waiter and will blend into a sea of other applicants. The trick is to stand out a little without being over the top. Chocolate brown and similar tones (beige, tan, cream,) is in big time this year. A pair of chocolate brown pants with a tan shirt and brown shoes would look ace.

P.S Don't forget your socks. White socks with black pants and shoes is a BIG NO NO

Don't even waste your time turning up...
That "JOB" is a total crock of sh#t...!!!
16 new openings available, because that's how many people Quit YESTERDAY, and the + will be the ones that quit TODAY... It's door to door selling of crap toys that no one wants and crap books that no one reads... Provided you make a sale at all..
Have you seen all the businesses with signs on the door that say "NO HAWKERS OR SALES PEOPLE"... Those signs are there because of THOSE people...
They will try to brain wash you by telling you to go to the New Holden or Ford Dealer down the street and check out the XR8 or SS.HSV coz you'll be making enough money to buy one of those real soon...
If you want the truth, ask the people that quit last week....
And if you REALLY want to earn some money, go to ALL the business that these poor revved up kids have just been Booted out of, and sell them a sign that says,

"NO HAWKERS OR SALES PEOPLE"...

:P
I hate to admit it, but man, I think you're right....

....I guess adz is after part-time so he can study still (?) ....and until you've been to these people you never do know...it's all about life

Are Myer and DJ in Woollongong they take on students...well anyone and give you a good deal...My eldest son worked for Myer all the way through Uni 4 yrs....he started before uni...they look after you...DJ would be the same...actually all three kids worked for them...the other two only on holidays and found other work.... It's a thought....just approach people...drop your resume in even if there's not much on it now
